"I had a very positive visit at First Choice Dental and Dr. Ellen. The staff were very friendly and the hygienist, Jill, was professional. She made sure I was comfortable. This was my 3rd appointment at this dental office and I was extremely happy with the level of care, the knowledge each expressed and I received excellent medical/dental information. I highly recommend this office."

"I'm giving this practice a 3 because of my previous good experiences with Dr Penwell. But you don't really get to know someone until there's a challenge, and I'm very disappointed with my last interactions. In early November, I saw a new dentist who gave me an injection that contained a substance I'm sensitive to, immediately after a reassuring me that it did not contain it. I had to leave without getting any work done due to the reaction I had. I think the practice handled the situation poorly. Nobody followed up to check on me or discuss what happened. When I asked, I was told that I seemed fine when I left so they didn't think there was any point in calling. This was after the assistant had watched me flush and shake for 20 minutes while waiting to be picked up. I "seemed fine" because my medication that counteracted the effects started working. I reached out the next day but was only able to talk to front desk staff. They were nice and apologetic, but couldn't give me any answers. They went and talked to the dentist and came back with verbiage that basically minimized my experience. I had only been given half a dose and I was fine. (An apology could be nice, and an explanation of how they would prevent it from happening again.) I left a voicemail and sent an email to the office manager, but heard nothing back. It seemed to be assumed that I would not come back to the practice, while I wanted to know how they could assure me that it wouldn't happen again. I called back in early January and the office manager answered. I asked to get a call from Dr Penwell when he was available as we needed to discuss other treatment, and also brought up the incident. She acknowledged having seen my email. Dr Penwell called me back and for the part of the conversation that was about the incident was also dismissive and somewhat condescending. Providers should listen to patients who have lifelong experience with their own health and respect their knowledge about their own bodies. I'm disappointed that they were unable to deal with their mistake and have a real conversation with me. Unfortunately I will now need to find another dentist."

"Grabbed an an appointment from the cancellation list. On top of that, my usual hygienist had moved. Much trepidation on my end as I’m a nervous dental appointment person. I was assigned to Jill. Wow! She had such a calm, friendly, and efficient manner, my nervousness dissolved. Now I have a new hygienist and I left feeling happy and satisfied."
