"This place is one of the BEST hidden gems in LA!!! The owner is amazing. The color line they use is so healthy. I’m Asian and have typically hard hair to lift blonde. James was impeccable and got me to a level 10+ without damaging my hair AT ALL. He is the only person I trust now. I’m a hairstylist as well so that’s the biggest compliment. James did a very thorough consultation, understands your vision completely, and makes you feel just at home. I would highly recommend him any day! 10 out of 10!"

"I got a botched chop. the stylist rushed with my hair as soon as his next client walked in. sitting in the chair was stressful and chaotic. his response was that he’s biased about his work, but I can DM him later on if need be. he brought me in for a hug and tightly squeezed my chest into his… this was the first time I ever met him. spoke to the owner a few days later. she defended him by calling him a big teddy bear. we booked another session for the following week to fix the damage. in her own words it looks like 2 cuts in one. a thick short bob on top of long wispy ends. some of the layers won’t stay down and they’re placed patch like throughout. she cut off extra length and thinned out my locks to compensate for the difference… and tried to sell me on hair products. at the end she asked what I think and answered her own question by saying it’s gorgeous. it was disingenuous because it clearly wasn’t. she had to make a call so she offered to fix it again in a few months. a couple days past and I was still very disappointed with the results. does it make sense to spend $120+ and hours out of my schedule to hopefully get a decent cut later? I contacted them. No response. Tried to communicate with them for one week. No response. you would have thought they were closed for business. this is how they treated me as a repeat customer who got her hair ruined in their salon. Left an honest review and suddenly heard from them the next morning. I eventually got refunded, but my experience was burdensome throughout. its now months later and I’m still disappointed by my cut. I’ve been growing my hair out for years. I can either chop it off or wait."

"Halls of Ivy is more than a hair salon, it’s a community- a home for you and your hair. Every time I walk in I am greeted by the enthusiastic staff and immediately asked if I’d like something to drink by Blare, the salon director. They are so attentive to my needs and make me feel so comfortable so I can just relax. I have struggled for YEARS to find a colorist who can make me look like a natural redhead and Kristin made it happen!! Such a beautiful space full of stylists with passion for what they do. I love their express services- they offer root refines which are affordable ways to keep up with your roots without breaking the bank in between full services. Highly recommend!!"
