"1 star is generous. First, two of the three plans we selected weren't available. I was sent a 110 page PDF of hundreds of plans to choose from to replace them and given no guidance or assistance in selecting comparable plans. Second, we filed in November for a January 1st start date. Simply Insured hadn't even submitted our selections by January 1st. Third, several mistakes were made, including employee and child being covered, instead of employee and spouse. Fourth, I was told it would take 5-7 business days to make corrections to the aforementioned mistake. 8 days later, the correction still hadn't been processed. I contacted UHC directly and they said they hadn't even received a request for correction. UHC was able to make the change over the phone effective immediately. Fifth, employees' selections for vision and dental were muddled, with some employees selecting only dental and receiving only vision. Sixth, I was informed by my eye doctor that the vision plan I received only provided pediatric coverage and did not cover me. Seventh, SimplyInsured's system still has not integrated with Quickbooks as of January 17th. I was late running payroll last week because I was led to believe that it would just be another day before the system was updated and the withholdings would be automatically applied to employee's paychecks. It's more than a week later and the system still hasn't updated. I had to chase down the costs and selections for each employees selections and manually calculate it myself to run payroll, which defeated the entire purpose of selecting a broker that automatically integrates with Quickbooks. The support team is hopelessly helpful through chat. I believe they did in earnest make the best efforts possible to help me. They seem to be working for an empty shell of a company, however, that is badly mismanaged to the extent that it is entirely dysfunctional. Due to the delays and wrong selections, I was not only turned away from a doctor personally, one of my employees and another of my employees' spouse were not able to use their plans to cover injuries they received."
"Horrifying service. The plans they advertise are actually not offered by the carriers which leads to delays in processing as the carriers have to correct them. They also advertise deadlines that mean nothing because they are ignoring carrier's stated deadlines, so even if you comply with everything simplyinsured requires, you will be uninsured for weeks because of their errors. They do not own up to their mistakes but simply deflect and blame other businesses. So far, no effort has been made to make our problem right. 100% would not recommend them and instead to work directly with an insurance provider if possible."
"While the staff members I've encountered through their support portal have been very nice, I will say using simply insured has been a nightmare for me and my team. We are a small(ish) non-profit that is led by and for marginalized community members. I trusted that this company was going to help us secure a plan that offered the coverage we needed and directly requested. Instead, it seems we landed the exact opposite, with an extremely pricy plan that has only offered denial after denial for the things that are the most important for our team to function. (This includes gender affirming care, ADHD treatment, and multiple other treatments for disabilities, which my staff struggle with.) Companies like this have a responsibility to the clients they're representing and need to understand that their lack of care/consideration is having a huge negative impact on the people paying the bills. They also need to do a better job of realizing who their client's are (not who they are) and to do actual research before needlessly costing companies like mine, thousands of dollars; which we've now wasted, since not 1 thing that my own medical providers have requested has been covered. As the Executive Director, I shouldn't be spending dozens of hours fighting with our provider to cover the most basic of care, for me or my staff, yet here I am. Needless to say, the most recent denial for my own care is that last straw and we're out."
"They are a processor for health insurance through Quickbooks. The Quickbooks process is very outdated. It does not allow users to see the progress of applications. Worse yet Blue Cross Blue Shield is not an insurance option in a large metro city. SimplyInsured is not offering a health plan that anyone would accept (patient or provider). The entire process through SimplyInsured is worse than other payroll benefits companies."
"My company has been delighted with SimplyInsured for the past two years (which is why I'm leaving two stars). However, it is now impossible to reach customer service at their 800 number (recorded message states it's unavailable, day after day), and superficial responses from customer support via email are not helpful. Insurance matters are complex for most of us, and ready answers to insurance questions was the reason we chose SimplyInsured . Without a knowledgeable representative to answer the phone, there's no value to engaging SimplyInsured as a third party. Keep looking."
