"This place has got to be LA's best kept secret! If you want an amazing cut with no extra "frills" then this is the place. Mr. Young is so talented that it's easy to understand why people have said that the wait for a cut can take a while. (This salon is walk-in only and people are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis). I have long very long hair and it's been hard for me to find a reasonably priced haircut in this city by someone who actually knows what they're doing. I will absolutely be back (and have no problem waiting an hour+ to do so). Thank you, Mr. Young!"

"I’ve been coming to Young’s since 2015/2016 and I always walk out loving my haircut. This man is skilled. Yes, he cuts more men’s hair than women’s, but that shouldn’t make you shy away from having him cut your hair. I usually walk in and ask him to cut off the split ends and then do whatever he thinks would look good. I essentially let him tell me what I should do. I have curly hair, and a lot of people don’t know how to cut curly hair to make it look good. But when I first came to him, I would straighten it, so he cut it for it to look good straightened:blowdried out. But the last two years, I’ve worn it curly almost all of the time. In August, I went in with it near my butt and just said I would like to keep it around chest length; he suggested long layers. They looked great! I had some as short as my chin, and then it was layered down to my mid chest. Last week I went in and he cut long layers but the shortest layer was at my shoulder. Again it looked great. I asked him for more bangs, and although I wanted straight across, he asked if I liked to wear it off to the side, which I said I used to, so he suggested curtain bangs. They are fuller than my prior bangs, which was exactly what I wanted, and I’m very happy with them. Young is super sweet. He even gave me some snacks to eat. We usually chat throughout the haircut- anything from his family, the Vietnam war, to Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. If you haven’t been here, I recommend you give it a try. Of note: - He is cash only. - Current women’s haircut is $28. Men’s is a little less. - It is walk-in only; you can’t make an appointment. There are chairs to sit and wait. - It can get busy. Even though he has three chairs, it is only him. You can call ahead and ask him if he is busy. - There is free street parking as well as a small parking lot. - It is a very low key and casual spot. - He usually just sprays my hair to dampen it if needed- he doesn’t wash it, so I usually come in here right after showering."

"The barber here was so fast, so efficient, and my boyfriend got one of the best haircuts he’s gotten in his life!!!! He listened to my bf’s requests, he knew how to execute it, and my bf is very satisfied. Highly highly recommend this one man show. There should be parking out front (it was super easy for us) and we were in and out in less than 15 min."

"Mr and Mrs Young rock! My son went for a layered cut - in preparation for hockey/la crosse mullet. He was super satisfied. $16 was a steal. We parked on Lincoln, but there was a little lot right by the place. Turn right into it after you see the salon. Mr Young was very friendly and he knew exactly what my son was looking for (in preparation for a mullet!). $18 for ladies. NO reservation!"
