My hair had been damaged in the past with improper color applications. But, it’s back to its healthy self from the past 2 years after I have been going to Evoke."

"I booked an online appointment, which was easy to book. I was assigned a haircut named Victor. I reached 25 mins early. They have a coffee machine, and tea bags, so I enjoyed some green tea in my free time. The place is neat and clean. Victor arrived before time and was ready to get started, even though my appointment time was still 15 mins away. He also asked me about my cutting preferences and was easy to be around. He is chatty and opens up about his personal and professional life. I believe he wants to make personal connections, which I really appreciate. However, he did not put a paper around my neck before tying the body curtain, making my neck itchy. Good saloons always put the soft paper to prevent this. So, I requested him to put a soft paper beneath, and he did. After the haircut, he tried to influence me to not wash my hair at the salon, even though hairwash is complimentary as part of the haircut cost, by saying I can skip it if I will be taking a bath at home. I insisted to take a hair wash and had to make up a reason, as if asking for a favor. I felt a bit awkward. Overall, the haircut was good and I am happy with the outcome. I think this is a is a great place and recommend checking this place out. The dressers are highly skilled and had great interactions but might benefit from some communication boundaries and ethics training."

"I had an appointment at Evoke salon with a hair stylist named Wilson who I've worked with yet before he joined the salon. I needed to do partial hair highlights since I'm going on a work trip and I wanted to look good and cover some gray strands I have. I contacted Wilson, send him the pictures of my hair - the light brown/reddish color hair on pictures attached. I also sent the result I wanted, see the picture with darker hair color with highlights. Out of that I only want the highlight part, I didn't want my own hair to be darker, I just want thinner contrasting highlights that become thicker closer to the ends and I specified that I need him to help cover grey. It seemed we were aligned on what I wanted, but the result was what you see on the pictures. The highlights he gave me ended up not having enough contrast with my hair and didn't cover gray at all - I know pictures don't show it well enough, but I do have some grey hair scattered around my head. I was pretty disappointed with the result. Wilson told me that I should wait for two weeks and it'll become what I want. It's been a bit over a week and nothing's really changed. I really doubt that I'll get the result I expected by the end of this week. Basically, I insisted that this was not what I hoped for and he persuaded me to come next week so he would fix his work and made it right. He charged me $85 for trimming my ends by 1 inch, I gave $15 tip. He told me to come by 9 AM next Saturday. I woke up super early and drove an hour to get their on time. When I arrived the salon was closed and when I messaged to Wilson he said he wasn't feeling well and won't come today, asked me if we could move appointment to other day... I don't have any time left before my work trip to fit another appointment, so that was not the option. I explained my situation to Wilson and he said he still won't come. I asked if anyone of his colleagues can help me and he gave me somebody's number, but it wasn't from the same salon and they never answered the phone or desperate messages I left. I'm giving 1 star because I think the service was terrible and that Wilson did not try to make things right, did not warn me a day before that he couldn't make an appointment, and basically let me down in the last moment. I'm really disappointed in service, will never return again."
