Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt at Williamson Medical Center Emergency Room

"Posting again because Williamson ED keeps taking down my review! DONT BRING YOUR CHILD HERE! They almost costed me the life of my child!! Dr. Carrie Aitken needs her license provoked immediately and I will not stop until it is. Because of her negligence, she almost cost us the life of our 7 month old son. I took my 7 month in on 12/24 to Williamson Children’s ED for RSV symptoms. He was having bad bad retractions, wheezing & rapid breathing. He was seen by Dr. Aitken. After being sent home once, just to return a few hours later, he was finally admitted. For over 12 hours, they did nothing. His o2 was going as low as 85%. Respiratory distress. Head bobbing, labored breathing. He hadn’t had a wet diaper in over 12 hours.. Dr Aitken literally was saying she was gonna send us home again.. and finally after asking that we’d like to be transferred to Vanderbilt, Dr Aitken said we could leave AMA. I asked again for him to be transferred to Vanderbilt downtown & she said “why? Do you feel like we aren’t doing enough here? .. he is fine”.. she finally ordered her staff tho start an IV (14hrs later). They blew his vein twice & it infiltrated and the IV fluids were pooling under his skin in his hand and arm. She put him on high flow oxygen (which he should had been on hours ago). When we arrived at Vandy, he was in critical condition. He spent 5 days in the hospital… I just got the documents back from Vandwrbilt & it states that he was in Respiratory Failure upon arrival from Williamson. Dr. Aitken should absolutely be fired. She is negligent & clearly doesn’t know what she’s doing as a Pediatric MD."

"Horrible. We took our son in because our pediatrician suspected pneumonia. The Sunday we took him in they "tested" him for it. He came back negative, and we were basically told he has RSV and let's wait till he either gets better or develops into pneumonia. Our pediatrician suspected pneumonia. So, we were referred back Wednesday and they absolutely ruled out pneumonia. They said it was virus stacking. By Friday he was so sick our pediatrician referred us to Vanderbilt Childrens ER in Nashville. He was extremely sick to the point they had to hook him up to IVs with antibiotics and monitor his heart and O2 which was low. low and behold pneumonia. Two missed diagnoses from two different visits to Williamson Childrens ER. Absolutely unacceptable. If you child is sick, I recommend Vanderbilt Childrens ER in Nashville. You will get answers WAY better treatment and your child will not be treated like just a number."

"We had a terrible experience with Dr. Whatley. My son had a febrile seizure and it was a traumatic experience. She gave him motrin and of course he was crying and she acted as if it was an inconvenience, asking if he had "taken a chill pill yet". She also used multiple opportunities to belittle us for not vaccinating him, but she never asked why we hadn't. She also wasn't even going to do any testing to see what was causing the fever so she clearly wasn't too concerned about any illnesses that he "could have been protected against." To add to it, in our discharge paperwork under the reasons we were seen, it said "unimmunized" which had nothing to do with why we were seen. All in all, it was an experience that sums up our "health"care system."

"Awesome experience. Had to take our son in and we maybe waited 10 minutes to be taken back which was great. All the staff was very knowledgeable and great with our 2 year old. Would not take a kid anywhere else!"

"Williamson medical center Children’s ER is probably the best ER in the area. They are always so pleasant, efficient, and knowledgeable. The doctors, nurses and techs are amazing. Every time I have taken my child in it’s been a great visit. Thank you guys so much!"
