"Saturday 2/24/24 Lunch at Yumi Time in City of Industry. Trying out this Taiwanese style foods restaurant. The foods I’ve ordered was delicious. Braised chicken with gravy, veggies, eggs Sunnyside up, meatballs soup, and white rice. The flavors and spices were made just right and tasty without any over bearing taste of a particular spice. I’ve enjoyed the meal: the meatball soup with a little raw diced celery add crunch and unique flavor. The meatballs tasted really good without any cheap fillers. The braised chicken was perfectly spiced with their awesome gravy on the side for the chicken and rice to brings the foods to the next level. Alex, restaurant manager, and a female staff were friendly and attentive. Word of advice to restaurant owner(s): the foods were delicious, however, there can be an improvement to gain more business. I felt the portion of rice should be increase. Here is the reason why. For your customers who has a good appetite (including myself) due to the less (not enough) portion of the rice included in the meal, the customer won’t feel satisfied and may have to go elsewhere to eat more. When spending about $15-$20 for a meal, it should be a one stop restaurant to feel satisfied. If not, customers won’t be returning to the restaurant. Provide a little more rice to the meal; it is inexpensive and can provide a word of mouth advising for your restaurant. Restaurant is open from 11am-3:00pm, 6 days a week. These are mostly lunch hours. Please expand your hours to include lunch and or dinner so more customers can go and give you business. I attempted to go to dinner one evening and found that it was closed. I recommend trying out this restaurant. I will be going back to try the other dishes on the menu. "A wholesome Taiwanese spot serving up cozy Taiwanese meals and dishes that make you miss your trips to Taiwan. You order at the counter and take a seat at any available tables. When you're finished with your meal, you are responsible for filtering your trash by food waste and trash. They have a lot of offerings on their menu so it can definitely be intimidating but if you're a first timer, I would definitely stick to what fellow Yelpers recommend first and then branch out to something different. I personally like ordering from their lunch special menus because depending on which one you order, it can come with a small cold dish or a side of soup and black or green tea. The complimentary items are not meant to be amazing, it should rather compliment your meal. It's not the tastiest Taiwanese food that I've had and honestly some items are probably better than the others, but it hits the spot when you're craving it. They also don't seem to turn on the A/C so I would recommend not coming here when it's super hot. Take your order to go or stop by when the weather is cooler. Just note that they are closed on Mondays and are only open for a limited time from 11am - 3pm from Tuesday through Sunday. The last call for orders is 30 minutes before closing. || L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Cross Streets are Gale Ave. and Turnball Canyon Road. -Located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking || F O O D || D#13 Popcorn Chicken - Holy guacamole they give you so much! I love that they aren't shy with the basil because what makes Taiwanese popcorn chicken so fragrant is when you fry it with enough basil. The seasoning is on point, I love that I don't have to rely on sauces to get some flavor. They use dark meat here which is my preference. D#14 Fried Stinky Tofu - I was so excited to learn that they had Taiwanese stinky tofu. It's such a classic dish. The kimchi was good but the portions of the stinky tofu were quite sad. It's priced at the same point as the popcorn chicken, so I didn't get this again when I visited the 2nd time. D#16 Fried Pork Chitterlings - If you love intestines, then this is definitely worth trying. I think they braise the intestines and then fry it. Super crispy and the portion was decent. Fried Chicken Steak - They also offer this as one of their set meals, but I had already set my eyes on ordering the Braised Pork Rice so I just ordered this as a side. Again, the portions are super generous and the batter of the chicken steak was chef's kiss. Soooo crispy, I wish some fried chicken spots could take some notes on this. #1 House Braised Pork with Rice - This particular lunch set is priced at $15.50 and it comes with a selection of a cold dish, soup and tea. Note that only lunch sets come with the option to add a cold dish (select from D#1 - D#5). This seems like a simple dish but surprisingly not a lot of restaurants can make it authentic. I thought it was pretty authentic and I liked how they were very generous with the braised pork and sauce. It was a heft portion and I got like 2-3 meals out of it. #10 Taiwanese Style Stew Pork Shank Rice - I didn't get to try this but my dad really enjoyed it and both times that I've been to Yumi Time, he's always requested to order this. He's very picky with his Taiwanese food so I take this as a good sign that it's delicious! #12 Red Grain Pork Rice - This one was okay. I think if you're really craving this, Monja Taiker is the spot to hit up. The portions of the pork were generous though. #14 Taiwanese Style Squid Soup with Noodles - this was such a comforting noodle soup. The broth was tasty and it reminded me of the ones I would get in Taiwan. #19 Fried Pork Chop Rice - This one was okay too, nothing too special but it filled up my tummy when I was super hungry."
"One of the best Taiwanese restaurants around town. Came here after reading an article about this place having the best minced pork rice and had to try it myself before it "potentially closed" (due to inflated rent). The food was amazing and certainly reminded me of home. The portion was also good for the value. I sincerely hope the owner can work out a deal with the landlord as it would be a shame for such an amazing place to be out of business. They also have a good variety of frozen packaged food which were unavailable at the time of my visit due to the uncertainty of the business continuity. Definitely recommended!!!"
