"I’ve been a frequent customer at The Wine Room for several years now. I’ve always enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and friendly service until today. The bartender ordered me to move a couch back, which we have rotated 90 degrees. I have no problems with the request if he were to kindly explain and he asked respectfully. Instead he bossed me and ordered me to move it around. When I told him this is not the attitude I expect from this business he dismissed me. When signing for my check after we had our wines, I mentioned to him that “as the business is rightfully concerned with how the place is set up and how every piece of furniture should be in it’s rightfully designated spot, they should remove the stack of three opened wine boxes next to our seating area.” I also reiterated my grievance on his attitude while he continuously talked me down and dismissed me verbally. I shook his hand and asked for his and the manager’s name. He tells me he is the manager and forcefully threw my hand away from his. I am considering this an assault, let alone an incredible disrespect. He threatened me with the presence of security camera. It’s 2024, if you don’t have a camera above your register it would be stupidity, hence thinking my communication would be impacted by the disclosure of its existence is funny at best. The bartender and self-claimed manager is named Eddie and I will never walk through the door of this lovely business if he is at the bar. I will be a loyal customer when he is not present and will be working on contacting the owner. Such a pity."

"I used to love to go to The Wine Room. The ambiance is great; cozy wonderful spot. The Wine List is pretty good, glasses are not too overpriced. But THE SERVICE. Horrible. Also, THERE WERE MULTIPLE ANTS crawling around on our glasses and the bar top. Gross. Like many other reviewers have posted: arrogant, rude, and just bad service. We sat down at the bar right after two other customers had left. The guy behind the bar tossed two napkins and a menu at us, leaving me to clean up the crumbs all over the bar top from the previous customers. He rudely told me the other patrons had just left (which I knew, but he clearly was not going to wipe up because he tossed the menu there). We did not get served water, just the glasses of wine ordered. But we saw them pouring glasses for everyone else - guess we just pissed them off by expecting a clear bar top. Then couldn't get anyone to bring the check - had to wave my hands in the air to get attention. I told him I guess we were wearing our cloaks of invisibility. He didn't apologize, just rudely responded that someone else had asked if we wanted more wine (true, we said no). So we also complained about no waters and they didn't apologize, just said "you didn't ask". Zero customer service. I will never go back there. I also work with many many many groups of wealthy executives that come to Palo Alto for a week at a time and I will actively discourage them from visiting this place."

"The wine is incredible, the service is top notch. The staff have a knack for knowing exactly what you want to drink. Antonio is my favorite person in Palo Alto. Eat elsewhere, but this is a fantastic wine bar."

"Toxic and arrogant atmosphere created by the 3 men who were serving tonight . Myself and my husband both engineers in the Bay Area just wanted to get ourselves a drink on a Friday night . The man that served us first , looked at me and my humble husband like he is going to PUNCH us in our face . All we did was ask him some questions about wine . I was unable to understand if he was just frustrated with his job or if he is being racist . But we saw him throw same attitude at another set of customers . Not sure he is just an employee or the Owner of this place ( he doesn’t look like owner from his manners though) . This is not acceptable by me . What a horrible experience to be disrespected just for coming by , paying our hard earned money and getting treated like beggars ?"
