"When I’m in the mood for tacos I always order here. Like any restaurant, sometimes the taste can vary depending on the cook. Generally, this place stays pretty consistent. BUT. This Saturday, December 2nd 2023, I had the BEST food I’ve ever had from this place! It had me moaning after every bite! It’s the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in Tennessee!!! San Marcos Supermercado, if you’re reading this, however you made your food yesterday…KEEP DOING IT. That was the best birria quesadilla you made! It was so thick and every bite was amazing!!! The freshest batch of dipping sauce. Maybe Saturday is the day to go. The meat in the tacos is always charred beautifully. The chicken and Al pastor tacos are my favorite!!!! (The chicken is underrated and one of the best things on the menu.) Sometimes I wish they could give a little more salsas on the side, but only because they taste so good! The verde chicken tamales are amazing too. Whatever you did Saturday San Marcos…keep doing it. You have one loyal customer here, and I implore to ANYONE wanting tacos, anything birria, tamales, burritos etc. You have to try ordering from San Marcos Supermercado!! You won’t be disappointed. (Also might I add, the prices are very affordable, and an amazing value considering the quality of the food. 10/10!!!) I hope this place never leaves. Check out their grocery too! "Never going back here again. Bought Mexican cheese from here. It was molded. Still in date but molded. Let that slide ok cool, went back to buy some beer. No organization in the check out line 2 jumped cut in front of me. I just left my stuff there an walked out. Place is a joke"

"I went to this taco place in the supermarket expecting a quick and easy lunch. I was wrong. The first red flag was the wait. There wasnt a line out the door, and it took over 30 minutes to get our food. When we finally got our tacos, they were not worth the wait. The steak was dry and overcooked, and the tortillas were stale. The toppings were just as bad. The steak was hard and tasteless, and the salsa was watery and bland. The prices were also ridiculous. A single taco cost $5 and it wasn't even that big. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The food is trash, the prices are too high, and the wait is too long. Additional Details: The place is located in a supermarket, so it's not a dedicated taco restaurant. They have a pretty big area and stuff to look at while you wait but still. The wait is always long, even during off-peak hours. The prices are expensive, especially for the quality of the food. The food is not good. The steak is dry and overcooked, the tortillas are stale, and the toppings are tasteless. Overall: I would give this place a one-star rating. It's a waste of time and money. If you're looking for good tacos, go somewhere else."

"I am always in search for an authentic taco, and it was recommended I try out La Esquina Market at 1156 East Main St in BEAUTIFUL Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This place is much more than a spot with some Mexican food, it is also a butcher shop and full Mercado. I decided to try their tacos and they are served on a “doubled” soft tortilla with different toppings depending on the meat selected. I went with Asada, Pollo, and Carnitas. The only thing I added was some cheese on the side so I could add a small amount. I really liked the fact that they did not “overload” the tortilla…there was just enough meat and topping to make it full, not spilling out everywhere. Loved the “garnish” of radishes and a slice of cucumber along with the slice of lime. The Asado taco was good but the steak was a little overcooked…if the meat was more medium it would have been excellent. The Pollo taco was really good, nice flavors, and had a bit of a roasted flavor. My favorite was the Carnitas taco…it was delicious. You could taste the wonderful roast pork flavors and the cilantro/onions topping really enhanced it. I really loved the small soft tortillas they were served on…not sure if they are homemade but they were very tasty. To wash it all down…can’t beat a Coca-Cola from Mexico with real cane sugar!!! I must say you can’t beat the price…the entire meal and tip was $10…can’t beat the quality, flavor, friendly service, or price!!! The Mercado offerings look great, with specialty meats to include HOMEMADE Chorizo sausage I need to try. As I walked through the store I saw a variety of dried peppers, seasonings, fresh vegetables, and fruits in the grocery section. I also saw the BIGGEST hunk of pork rind I have ever seen, and if you need a special Piñata…they have you covered there too."
