"Great place in Vallejo to get service performed. They accept shipments of tires from a lot of online retailers and charge around $80 (everything included) to have tires installed. Needed Model Y tires for just under 8 months until a lease comes up and was able to order them online and have them installed for under $600. Appointment process was also smooth. They are short staffed and could take 3 to 4 hours to have your service completed."
"My experience at Pep Boys in Vallejo was positive and pleasant. First, I went to their website and I bought tires online on a Sunday. The website said they would be available the next day. After my purchase, I immediately scheduled an appointment. They had open availability for the time I wanted, 4:30pm and for the next day, Monday! I was thrilled to be able to come so quickly! I also took the initiative to call Pep Boys Monday morning to confirm they had the tires in stock. I spoke with Don, the Manager, who was so helpful. He told me he would check and call me back. He kept his word. Don called me back to confirm he had the tires in stock and I was ecstatic. I was happy that the website didn't lie and that I could get my tires done that day. I confirmed to see him at 4:30pm. I checked in with Dino (I think that's his name) and dropped off my vehicle. I asked how long it would be and he said probably near closing time which is around 7pm. He said they would call me when it's ready. He was nice. I walked to Costco to shop while I waited. I did not receive a phone call, but decided to walk back. It was about 6:30pm when I returned and my vehicle was clearly still being worked on. I waited in the waiting room and I was able to watch the techs do their work through the window. I was on my phone playing games for a bit when Don, the Manager, approached me to give me an update. He said it wouldn't be long. At about 7:20pm, Don called out my name and asked me what my schedule was like the rest of the week. With hesitation, I told him my availability. He said his tech had back to back wheel alignments and he didn't have enough time for mine. Don said it would take about an hour, no appointment needed, so I told Don I would be back the next day. Of course, not knowing what the next day would be like, if their service department was busy with other vehicles, Don did assure me that he would squeeze me in for the car to be finished. I came back the next day to get the vehicle aligned and Don was able to get the tech to work on my vehicle. I stayed in the waiting room this time and it took about 40-45 minutes. I was occupied with social media so it didn't seem that long. A minor setback to coming back another day but I was happy with everything. Overall, I was pleased with their customer service, communication and friendliness."
"Unless you are prepared to drop off your vehicle and be without it for the majority of the day, I would not suggest booking an oil change appointment with Pep Boys in Vallejo. What happened to the days of scheduling an appointment for an oil change service and you can be in & out in less than an hour? I arrived to my 8am appointment at Pep Boys, and after waiting in a long line for 35 minutes, I was able to check in for my appointment. They suggested that I should change my option to wait while my services were done and "just drop off my vehicle." It's Saturday, and I have a list of errands to take care of and need my vehicle. How long is my oil change appointment going to take? I was told that they had over-scheduled, so maybe just over an hour. Then I was offered a "managers special" for an oil change and coolant change. I accepted and took a seat in the waiting area with my magazines that I had brought along. It is now 9am. I'm a patient person, so I waited until 11am to try and get an update. Now, I have to wait in line again, just to speak to a technician. Finally, I'm told that my vehicle is almost done, but they are out of coolant and are waiting for their delivery. They will let me know as soon as it arrives. An hour later, I'm still waiting with no update - and the technician is now trying to duck me. Thirty minutes later, I see the technicians walking past the entrance carrying bottles of coolant that they had to purchase from the auto supply store next door to Pep Boys. Then, all of the technicians go to lunch at the same time. By 1:30pm, I see my vehicle in the service lot with a bottle of coolant sitting on the hood, just waiting to be completed. Finally, by 2:00pm I get word that my vehicle is ready for pick-up. The original technician who checked me in - Don - was apologetic, and honestly thought that my vehicle was serviced earlier and that I had left. He also had to make changes on my invoice (which was kind) because the technicians were trying to charge me several hundred dollars more for the higher priced coolant that they had to use because they had to run and purchase it from next door and was more expensive than what they typically use on their services. Six hours of waiting for an oil change and coolant service! Absolutely unacceptable! All of the other customers seemed perfectly fine with just dropping off their vehicles for simple services like oil changes or tire rotations and coming back 4-6 hours later. That does not work for me. On my days off, I have things to do, errands to run, and being without a vehicle for the better part of the day, for a simple auto care service is outrageous. I'm not going to bother a friend or family member to ask for rides to drop off and pick up my vehicle for an oil change, and I'm not going to book a car service either. If I book an appointment for 8am, take my vehicle at 8am, do the service, then give me my vehicle back in an appropriate amount of time for the service being done. After being an extremely loyal customer with Pep Boys for over 15 years, it is time to look elsewhere to get my car serviced."
"Even with the lights out, their computer was working. Staff was using their flashlights on their phones to find the parts. All's good and the signal bulbs I needed for my daughter's van was available. They do a great job on servicing your car, too!"
