Cafe Platano 2 is a beloved institution located at 3612 International Boulevard in Oakland, California. Our mission is to bring the vibrant culture and delicious cuisine of El Salvador to the heart of Oakland. Chef Nicolas and his brother Juan are dedicated to preserving the authentic flavors of Central America in the Bay Area.

Since our opening in Berkeley in 2006, Cafe Platano has expanded to multiple locations including Tracy and Stockton. Our specialties include pupusas, thick stuffed tortillas served with curtido and salsa, as well as our famous Mar y Tierra dish featuring grilled New York steak and seasoned shrimp.

"This place has THE BEST pupusas I have ever had!!! And I'm super picky with my pupusas. I'm glad I found this place, and it's conveniently at a walking distance from my home. They have really great customer service. You walk in, they greet you, they take your order and they're so nice!! I love this place and I LOVE their salsa!!!! They also have so many varieties on their menu. As a matter of fact, I'm headed over there right now haha."
