"Stumbled on this place while looking for a little dessert and coffee on the last night of a business trip. Charming little middle-eastern style coffee shop. The menu is huge, and for someone (me) not accustomed to this regional style, kind of overwhelming. The staff was very helpful and patient in assisting me in choosing. I don’t actually remember what my drink was, but it was delicious. There is a case full of fresh baked dessert delicacies. I had a piece of double pistachio baklava, which was absolutely wonderful, crispy and sweet. Prices weren’t low, but they weren’t unreasonable given the quality and location. This ain’t the Topeka Dunkin’. It’s a nice place to hang out, with lots of tiny tables, both high and low, and big windows on one end. I imagine at peak times it’s pretty tight inside, there is a lot of furniture packed in the space. The evening I visited there were only a few other occupied tables."

"It was raining; my husband and myself originally started walking to B Street Books. However, on the way we stumbled upon Sama Coffee Shop. The preparation of the cappuccino was dry unlike a specialty coffee shop; which was really nice. The turkish coffee was delicious, fragrant, and not bitter. The sweets were nice as well. The staff were friendly and kind. I really enjoyed it here."

"Fun little cafe in San Mateo. Plenty of interesting options here in this Turkish Cafe. Huge selection of coffees, lattes, teas and desserts. Loved trying a few food options too which were new to us. The decor is simple yet very modern Turkish so we enjoyed that. We took menus and sat through the lavish latte and speciality coffee options. I decided to go with the Rose one and that didn’t disappoint. We got a whipped cream milk shake for my son (which was custom made because he wanted to drink with us) and my husband got a blueberry latte if I recall correctly. We liked my Rose latte the best. It was a tad bit sweeter than I expected but my body was happy having this sweet latte. We got a cake and a traditional bread type thing (don’t recall the name) but it had herbs and cheese on it and it was interesting. The place was busy and the service was quick which made our experience great overall. There isn’t a restroom inside the space so we had to use one outside the building inside a garage just FYI for others. Parking is street parking and varies during the day. We were lucky enough to get a good spot near the cafe. Happy to come back here anytime."

"Now this is the kind of coffee chop I'm down for. Turkish coffee is relatively unknown in the states but gaining ground fast, and this place combines the traditional method with a more modern set of starbucks-like latte options, all of which seem pretty unique and are all really tasty. Not only that but there's a huge selection of Turkish delights and date candies and baklava, along with some pastries The atmosphere is great, maybe a little too over the top but I like it If you get the proper Turkish coffee it comes on this great serving platter with a pretty ornate cup and pot as well"

"This is a hidden GEM in San Mateo!! Sama makes unique, delicious, beautiful crafted coffee. Watching the barista make your coffee is so cool! Inside is the cutest coffee shop. I can spend a whole day there trying out their coffee. Some of the coffee will resemble a cocktail “ black Forrest” I definitely recommend. I had a muffin walnut and it was amazing!!! All A’s here The service is also outstanding:) My daughter is vegan and they can custom your coffee :) double points here!"
