Elgin Parks and Recreation Center

"A beautiful park! Peaceful. Lots of shade. Fun ducks and turtles to watch while walking the paved path. A ton of open grass. Well-maintained. Plenty of room for multiple games on the basketball court. And it has always felt safe and friendly. This is our favorite park in Elgin."

"Why is our recreation center closed again?!? The management here is incompetent at keeping employees on hand to staff the rec center, it is now frequently randomly closed because they are not paying enough for any adults to be able to keep the place open during week days. I pay for a membership here and the people of Elgin love being able to use and access the recreation center as it is one of the best things available to do in Elgin but I am fed up with it being randomly closed so often. Yes, we had less than ideal weather yesterday but today it is sunny out and no storms, ice or even rain. There is no good reason for the rec center to be closed today. If the manager cannot get people to work here then they need to come show up and work themselves. I am willing to bet the manager is still getting paid on days that the rec center is closed to all of the paying members! People should start protesting this at City Hall in Elgin, it is right next to the library. Make complaints about this people, someone is being greedy and lazy and not running our facility like it should be!"

"Nice recreation center, with a small gym. All around a very cool place for a small town. Aside from the two minor items below, it's a great place. I do wish the gym was larger, and the basketball courts were smaller (since there are a lot more people in the gym). It would be awesome if they would open up earlier than 6am (maybe around 5am?)."
