The black belt instructors are highly skilled, experienced, and dedicated to helping students reach their full potential. Fred Degerberg, who is very well known and respected martial artist has created a great place to learn martial arts from really good teachers in a friendly environment. Especially it is important for kids to learn discipline and respect while getting physically stronger and practicing martial arts. Awesome school overall! Highly recommend!"
"I've had 2/3 kids training at Degerberg since 2021. The eight-year-old daughter has gained (much needed) self-confidence in addition to quality instruction in martial arts and strength & conditioning. Six-year-old son is right behind her. My four year old asks all the time when he can start. This academy is a Lincoln Square treasure. The instructors and staff are all top notch, and the programming is what you would expect from an institution that has lasted in the Square since the '80s. They have figured out how to teach kids martial arts. Really nice parent community and quickly but charming facility."
"The Degerberg Academy in Lincoln Square is a truly special place. The staff and instructors welcome everyone — from the littlest ninjas to kickass, black-belt martial artists. The instructors are terrific with kids, teaching MMA with a terrific blend of discipline and positive reinforcement. My son has thrived here athletically and mentally.
