"These folks run a great business and their can-do focus is all about professionalism, customer service, and making sure their customers are happy. Although Hicksgas is a pretty big company (I don't know where they are headquarted), the Vandalia operation is run like a small-town business. Because it is. We see thes efolks in the community and know them. They wave and smile. And you cannot put a price on that. And if you do business with them, you will feel it -- they treat you like family. Which is just what you want in this litttle corner of paradise. My first experience with Hicksgas was not positive. The individual who answered the phone was flat out mean. And it was a simple question about repainting a tank. Instead of simply telling me no, she really gave me the graduate school dissertation about painting Hicksgas property. Seriously, she took it way too far. Well, being new to the area, I figured I should let it pass. And to this day I have no clue who overheard her in their office, because someone must have. Not only was the tank painted within 48 hours (I was not in a rush), but when I called back to thank them, she was no longer there. Like employed there. Which is good and bad. Again, I never complained about her, but I wanted to. Well, it means they care about their customers and particuarly how their team treats their customers. So all my other experiences with Hicksgas since then have been flawless. Seriously flawless. Jessica, who answers the phone and organizes dispatches, is cheerful and kind. Can you imagine having to take calls from people all day? Hopefully, most people are kind and mature and manage their propane and energy responsibly, but you just know she must get at least one knucklehead a day who wasn't proactive in monitoring their tank and is now in world-ending crisis mode... and takes it out on her. But she doesn't let them get to her. Great job Jessica! And then there is Mitch. For some reason, the folks we bought our property from had Hicksgas remove the second propane tank from the barn/workshop. We thought that was odd and were gonna go buy our own tank and have it filled. Well, I called Hicksgas to find out if they sell tanks. Turns out they delivered and installed a tank... and connected and safety checked the propane heater connected to it... as a courtesy. Mitch did all that. With a smile on his face. Yep. Read that again. A courtesy. The only caveat? Fill the tank annually. And who wouldn't fill it with Hicksgas? Their propane price is 25% to 40% CHEAPER than anyone else in the region. So, why the long review? Well, after writing hundreds of reviews and, according to Google having nearly 3 million hits of my reviews, I want to believe positive comments make a difference for businesses -- both large and small. And my experience with Hicksgas, especially Jessica and Mitch, are the kinds of experiences I know others want to have in their interaction with businesses. Try Hicksgas in Vandalia. You won't be disappointed!"

"We became a customer of Hicksgas earlier this year and, honestly, they have treated us like family since day one. The tank behind our home was covered with scrub and bushes, so when we cleared all that off the tank needed a good painting. These guys showed up to paint the tank the next day! Who does that? Fills happen in 24 hours... waaaay better than we ever experienced with that company that begins with a 'F' and rhymes with squirrel. Their customer service is superior too. Just call them and you will see. You will probably speak to Jessica, who is the most professional and kindest person you could want to talk to. We have never met the folks who fill the tanks, but Mitch was dispatched to help us with a second tank for our workshop/barn and he was just a machine. From the moment he arrived to the second he left, that fella did not stop working -- polite, curteous and friendly. Oh. And the prices. Absolutely a superior value compared to other propane companies. The bottom line is simple -- you have choices when it comes to things like this. Do your research. Read the reviews. If someone posts a negative review, go read their other reviews... odds are that if they complain about small-town company they do nothing but spew negative stuff towards everyone. You can and should ignore those reviews. Give this company a shot - you won't be disappointed."
