"I'll be honest; This is not a bad school. If you want to be academically challenged, I truly recommend this school. There are certainly some classes that allow us to have no limit on creativity and that is why I came. However, STEAM Academy is NOT Probe. Personally, I don't think that STEAM required any creative thinking skills that students couldn't have gained at other elementary schools. It is a rigorous school, yes, but it doesn't quite challenge your mind the way Probe did. I admire the fact that the staff is always open to change. If you stand up for something, it can be done. (Any future STEAMies better tell me if you ever get that garden going "

"The expectations of this school are honestly off the chain. I get it is a school for those who are gifted, but gifted ≠ (ALWAYS) restricted policies. The first one I want to discuss is how we are not allowed to have our phones out during anytime of the day. I’m gonna assume that the main purpose is to avoid distractions, which I understand but this rule has a lot of flaws to it. For example, life-threatening emergencies. This one is self-explanatory. Another flaw is not sure if being able to trust that the school will not look through mine, or anyone else’s properties, security. Another problem is not having minimal breaks. This is a high priority school meaning that work ethic is expected to be above average. The amount of work given has ruined my social with my family, and my freedom. Giving us minimal breaks to have our phones out in class once in a while could be necessary. The list goes on. Another topic I want to discuss is the restroom policy. I completely disagree with only going to the restroom once a week per class period. I find this extremely uncomfortable, and I’m pretty sure others do too. Some may not have as much access to using the restroom in a casual day out-of-school like others, they may be busy. Also, everybody has different bladders, so people have to use the restroom when they need to. It is said that this is a policy because students are being caught skipping outside of class. Enforcing more pressure makes the issue a bigger problem on students because they lose less time to release themselves. Instead of restricting restroom policies on everyone, enforce the rules on the ones who take full advantage & responsibility of using the restroom to skip class. Another topic I want to talk about is the uniform policy. I think that the uniform policy is absolutely ridiculous. I’m mainly saying this because uniforms are ridiculously overpriced, it is not affordable. In this specific region, it is not common for these prices of uniform to be affordable. Someone asked why uniforms are a thing at our school and the staff responded saying that it is cheaper than a weeks supply of clothes. I don’t believe that. Two pairs of uniform is the equivalent of two weeks worth of clothes (depending on the season) Plus, kids are still experiencing puberty so parents could tend to get angry at their child once they recognize the uniform does not fit. I think we should wear a polo t-shirt, and khakis. The uniform policy is a bit unnecessary. The last topic I want to discuss is a touch on everything this school struggles at. I have to force a smile on my face every time I enter the building. It is very tiring. The teachers will harass you for little things such as not having your ID. There’s one that will speak to you immaturely about it. Some of the teachers here will ruin your mentality. The physical education is more ‘education’ than ‘physical’ I had anxiety when we were told to present a bundle of workouts in front of the whole class. I also get anxiety when I have to do the mile run. When I don’t meet the standards, it puts a bad look on me. They make us learn lessons about sports I’ve never heard before. And when we asked why don’t get to learn our own sports they said “Some may not like it, some might”. Really? I feel that Physical Education should be the class with the most freedom. We should be instructed to do health lessons maybe 2 times a month. Like I said earlier, the workload is fairly ridiculous. We are teached nearly the same topics as other schools like CKMS. This is a top priority school, but the workload must decrease. We have other things to do in our lives, not school. Also, food is okay. But couple of times they served us yogurt with string cheese.. Another time they served us fruit and yogurt on top of KALE. That’s it, thank you."

"This school isn't very good. It's very overwhelming and stressful, especially when you have teachers yelling at you for wearing a HOODIE. They say things like, "You don't have a choice" or "That's not the uniform" When in reality, the dress code is uncomfortable. Now, they're trying to enforce a "bathroom trip once a week". That isn't okay especially for girls when they're on their period. Some teachers made my friend cry because she just wanted to go to the bathroom. The teachers are very controlling and rude. The staff usually ignores when teachers make a student cry over the smallest things. They stress kids out with the amount of work they spend a lot of time on. Overall, I am so excited to leave this school. It's ruining my mental health, and I know I can speak for others when I say I'm stressed out."

"Hello. Do not bring your child to this school unless you want them to become overwhelmed and stressed. Here are some pros about this school. Oh wait THERE IS NO PROS ABOUT THIS SCHOOL BECAUSE ITS TRASH Here’s some cons about this school. You cannot have any type of communication during the four minute passing period. You stay in one space your whole middle school years You have teachers that are making kids cry and are just rude and annoying You can only use the bathroom once a week meanwhile there people with periods who cannot just go to the bathroom once a week. We get treated like we are in elementary school. Overall don’t apply your kid to this school unless you want then to have bad mental health."

"I give the steam academy of 3-star rate because it is not exactly the most challenging school but is also not the most difficult school there are some classes that are very challenging that put you to the verge of having maximum stress there are also classes that are very easy that could be advanced and difficulty based on your skill level which is what we try to achieve to do saying that school is bad at all I actually pretty grateful to be at the school it offers a lot of opportunities such as scholarships etc but I would also like some of the more difficult classes for more bundles of students to be reduced in the minimum of homework and work weekend because not quoting any names of classes but some of the classes that we do have at the school are very challenging and I know that we are gifted and we're supposed to have a challenge but there are some things that could really use a little bit of less evening because there is some classes that are very difficult leaving me at the breaking point of stress and minimum sleep just from doing the work days and days a week I know that we're supposed to be gifted and we're supposed to be more of a academic achieving school but there are some things that could have changes so I don't know if this is appropriate but I do agree and disagree with some of the comments on here just due to the difficulty level. But my review is just based on my opinion it's not actually factually based because everyone else has their own opinion and are entitled to what they believe about the school"
