"Dr. Parks has helped me come back to the world. I was in a bad place and had a horrible run of Doctors who kept retiring. I met Dr. Parks and she not only took me in, but made me feel sane and we built a great relationship."

"Dr. Parks is an amazing psychiatrist that has treated me for years. No doctor has ever been able to control my symptoms the way she has. She is compassionate, kind, and always has time to listen. She has literally changed my life!"

"I began seeing Dr. Parks many years ago when she literally saved my life. After being dumped by my previous psychiatrist because my private insurance had run out and I was now on Medicare, Dr. Parks took over. This former psychiatrist had led me to believe I was a victim of sustained and vicious child abuse; and I was estranged from my family at his insistence. I was in a very vulnerable position. No longer did Dr. Parks search for unsubstantiated instances of child abuse. Instead the focus centered on the here and now. I happily reconnected with my family and once again became a functional adult. I no longer have to see Dr. Parks on a continuous basis to recover from the damage sustained prior to coming under her care. I willingly drive over an hour to see her on an as-needed basis. The breadth of her knowledge and compassion is tremendous."

"After seeing the same psychiatrist for several years, he began to not listen to me when I talked about how the medications I was taking for depression and anxiety were no longer working correctly. I was on 2 medications that were no longer working, and on too high a dose of another. I brought these issues up to my PCP (Primary Care Physician), as he has been the greatest PCP I have been to, and has given really good referrals for other concerns I have for my health. That's when he referred me to Dr. Joanne Parks. Dr. Parks (and her staff) have been a blessing! I had suffered through almost a year of my old psychiatrist not listening to me, while the meds I was on weren't working. Dr. Parks agreed I wasn't on the right medications for me. She ordered some lab tests for me, which my old psychiatrist never did. On my second visit with her (Dr. Parks), after the labs came back, she asked more about immediate family mental and medical history, as well as more of my own. She wanted to get things right. She cares. We talked about different medications and together came up with a medication plan. The only prescription we didn't discuss together was the weekly Vitamin D pill she ordered for me. From the lab tests, it showed I had incredibly low Vitamin D, which makes sense since I don't drink much milk or go out in the sun often. But turns out low Vitamin D can be a cause of and/or exacerbate depression. Dr. Parks' staff is incredible, too! They are so super nice, supportive, understanding, helpful, and funny. Not only are they professional and on top of their game, but they make you feel like old friends, even from your first visit. I cannot recommend Dr. Joanne Parks enough! If you're having problems with your current psychiatrist, or feel you may need or want one, give Dr. Parks a try! I doubt she and her staff will disappoint! As of this review, I don't believe she has any psychologists in her office, but I believe she was going to start interviewing for some. I do hope she gets some in her office soon, as I would like to see one as well. I could've seen one at the place where my old psychiatrist is, but if I could not trust him, how in the world would I trust anybody else there? And I believe Dr. Parks would be picky (in the best of ways!) about whom she chooses for a psychologist(s) to work in her office."
