"Great selection of golf shoes and attire but frustrated couldn't locate any assistance on a Saturday afternoon, even after requesting cashier to call for help. Store lost couple hundred dollars of my business"

"Likely my last time visiting PGA Superstore. As a Michigan resident, we unfortunately do not have a PGA Superstore. I lived in Oakbrook Terrace, IL for 4 years from 2018-2022 and routinely visited this store, hoping my experience would eventually be better. In visiting today in 2024 during a quick trip to the Chicagoland area, I’ve decided enough is enough. Nearly every single time I’ve been into this store, I’ve felt nothing but neglect. By no means whatsoever have I ever been the type of person to bring race/looks into anything at all as I stand firmly against the ideology that I, as an individual, am actually judged on the way I ‘look’. I’m a medical professional and business owner and hold myself to a high level of respect to others and their businesses. But time and time again, I’ve walked into this location, waiting in line at the demo bays and the employees look directly at me and proceed to help someone else. The first few times, I thought it was coincidental. I’m a young middle eastern man who’s an avid golfer, and I’m clearly there to demo the latest clubs as I’m routinely looking towards equipment that could potentially help my game. In this case, to replace my stolen clubs. I’m not there to fiddle around whatsoever. I’m a 13 handicapper constantly looking to improve my game. Every time I’ve walked in here and waited in line, they take names of others who are BEHIND me for their wait list or look right over me and help the next person. Today however it was a little more clear. I approached the demo bays to which a gentleman looked right at me, threw up his hands in a frustrating motion, shaked his head, looked down and walked right past me and helped the person standing behind me in line. Multiple visits to this location and it seems to be the same old frustrating situation. At first I wanted to believe the employees, like many of us who work for a living, get frustrated and overwhelmed at times in their job, which is understandable. But once, twice, thrice, when it’s busy, when it’s slow, when there’s no one else in the store, it’s become clear to me that PGA Superstore is employing individuals who look at their potential customers, judge them on their looks (whether that be from a racial standpoint or even profile them based on how well they think they golf) and treat them as they deem fit. And this isn’t one single employee. I’ve been going there for 4 years and have had equal experience upon all my visits across a number of employees. I even thought walking in one day with some golf gear on would help my chances of being treated - how shall I say this? - normally, fairly, like a human. It’s a very frustrating situation to say the least. Golf is meant to be a sport meant for everyone, everywhere, anytime. But time and time again I’ve felt targeted by employees of PGA Superstore as what I believe to be ‘a bad golfer who’s not serious’ or ‘a foreigner who surely isn’t serious about golf’. Again, never in my wildest dreams would I ever think I would bring the way I look/race into ANY situation. But it seems that now that I have begun to feel the sting of these employees treatment of me over 4 years, I believe that PGA Superstore rewards and holds golf knowledge/expertise to a higher standard than customer service across all facets of good customer service when it comes to their employees. It took me 4 years of unmistakable mistreatment by this facility to even muster up the confidence to speak on something that humiliated me to have to bring up the potential of racial discrimination or judging my skill level/seriousness in golf. If I was already discouraged to ask to demo clubs, I’m more discouraged now. I simply walked in to replace my stolen driver, putter, and wedges. I walked away empty handed and frustrated."

"The entire team at the Downers Grove store is spectacular! Prices are good, selection is great, and I just love hanging out there looking at everything. The Players Club is a nice benefit, and I’m earning points and redeeming rewards. Highly recommended!"

"Had a fantastic iron fitting session with Brian Vierk this morning! We started by discussing goals for what I'd like to achieve with the irons and current play/skill level. I started trying different things from there and found out really quickly the clubs I pulled off the shelf 10 years ago without a fitting were not doing me any favors. I really appreciated how agnostic towards brands Brian is, I did not feel like I was getting a sales pitch at any moment, whatsoever. He literally wanted to fit me with the perfect clubs. He even helped with a minor grip thing that he noticed that also greatly improved the experience (I think it's important to note, he asked for permission before giving me some pointers. A new swing was not forced on me, which I've seen before on reviews for other stores). We ended up finding a set that fit me perfectly, and I purchased them on the way out. Absolutely a first class experience with Brian at the PGA store, and I plan to come back and see him when I'm ready to upgrade some more of my bag."
