"Many memories of this mysterious place throughout my life and it's great to see how well the community has kept pushing for its success. At one point it wasn't the best for fishing or nature walks to even running around the island and for the advanced trails bring your mountain bike and shoes tied tight because Sylvan Island has much to offer along with so much history to learn or teach if the little ones are with for the days adventure. This day I tried to see how many types of mushroom i could spot on this little island having found a half dozen easily in the short trip going around the island only once before I snagged a flat on the bike from the shale rock on the northwest side of the island so beware."

It's a very good place to teach Kids how to Ride & Enjoy trail riding with different levels of trail riding All in a fairly small area with nicely groomed trails. There's just never enough places like Sylvan Island to Enjoy Mother Nature on a Bicycle, it's One of the Quad Cities Area hidden Jewels !"

"A great place for a Hike !! I found this park on Google maps while looking for somewhere to jog and hike during a trip to Moline last year. This is a historic area as it's the former home of the Republic Steel mill which was shut down years ago. The island has hiking and mountain bike trails, its quiet and I did not see too many people there while on my hike. There are several trails on the island, so I had time to walk most of them. There are wooden outcrops that you can use for photos. The trails go in and around the island. You find find wildlife, birds, small animals, and the remnants of the old steel mill. This is a great place for a hike."
