"The waitress was absolutely amazing. The drinks were absolutely horrendous. My drink smelled and tasted like a bandaid, my friend said was the most subpar espresso martini she has ever had. So I got an old fashioned which is my go to, also quite awful. I was actually shocked by the quality & price. Then after an extremely long wait, the food came out. It was very cookie cutter and over seasoned with zero flavor, which makes no sense I understand. And then the owner of the whole establishment came up and said to us “I hope the gratuity reflects the service” with a really snarky face along with shaking her head, we were appalled. And certainly do not know where that came from. We voiced no opinions before then. (Except about the drinks to waitress) I am so disappointed because my friend and I never get to have an actual, fun time out and about so this was a special occasion. Extremely disappointed."

"Had a spectacular visit here a few years ago and just came back. Same warm atmosphere and great service, fine dining but without the stufy-ness of other fine dining places. And of course you have to mention the food. Stellar! And they have a take home section if you want some take out to enjoy later. Why don't more places do this??? Our daughter was in a mood, so thanks to Jordyn for being gracious w our cranky child."

"The menu changes weekly, and is always fantastic! The worst part about eating there is deciding which awesome dish to order. The bartender is highly skilled, offers a weekly menu of his special drinks and will mix you up anything you can name. The wine list is good and pairs well with their dishes. Servers are skilled, courteous and efficient. I love this place!"

"I’m writing a new review because I visit this place every-time I’m in Missouri and I have wonderful food every time. This time I tried the burger. It was so perfectly plated at first i didn’t want to eat it because it was a work of art. This burger was flavorful. I usually ask for no sauce but forgot and my burger was fine. there wasn’t too much aioli right amount of cheese, tomato jam, and pickled onion. I also kale salad yeah you say anyone can make a kale but this one is delicious. I think the roasted nuts brings out the flavor. the chefs continue to amaze me. they were also kind because im not a fan of goddesses dressing that comes on the salad and said i take it plain but the chef knew he needed something to massage the kale. he used olive oil. salad was amazing."

"After reading many good reviews, I had high hopes for Veritas, which proclaims "Fine Dining" on its website. But, after dining there, I can only assume those reviews were written in "vino veritas", Latin for telling the truth while inebriated. Small Plate #1: Arancini with BBQ Pork, Mushrooms, Cotija, Green Chili Sauce, and Farm Fresh Egg. While visually appealing, the dish was underseasoned and severely lacking flavor. I would've been happy to season it myself had there been salt & pepper on the table. Small Plate #2: Crispy Cornbread with bacon jam, chives and honey thyme butter. The bacon jam was more bacon crumbles than jam and only 3 of 6 pieces had a small dollop of honey thyme butter. Meh. Small Plate #3: Devils on Horseback - bacon wrapped, cheese stuffed, deep fried skewered prunes with peanuts and balsamic drizzle. This was by far the best of three small plates. But then again, you could bacon wrap a cricket, deep fry it and drizzle a good balsamic on it and it would probably taste good. Main Course #1: Strip Steak with Cracked Purple Potatoes, Carrots, Butternut Squash, Turnips, Oregano and Pecans. Holy cow, the plate was covered in undercooked, underseasoned root veggies. Sadly, the steak, while cooked correctly, was 40% fat and gristle. Not worth the price. Main Course #2: Mahi Mahi, Nut Crusted with Sweet Potato Bisque, Green Beans, Parsnips, Hen of the Woods Mushrooms, Basil, Tarragon and Almonds...at least that's what the menu said. As a wild mushroom forager, I assure you there wasn't any hen of the woods in the dish. The Mahi Mahi was good but again, underseasoned. When asked if I wanted dessert, I declined, not willing to take another chance just to be disappointed again. PS... The vibe at Veritas stops abruptly once you walk past the warm front patio lights. Perhaps, upon drinking several glasses of wine, the vibe returns. BOTTOM LINE: Veritas might be enjoyable to gather with friends over a few glasses of wine and deep friend prunes. Beyond that...head east on Clayton Rd for actual fine dining."
