"I’m making it a point to share my experience with Foresters Financial and Agents for America to hopefully save the next person a serious headache. Maybe others have had a different experience but BEWARE. I am beyond annoyed with both. Thank goodness for USAA. So we had a lady from Agents of America contact us about investment options. She presented a bunch of options and companies and we ended up going with term life insurance through Foresters Financial. She had given us pricing and filled out paperwork for Damien and was supposed to come back to discuss options for me. We gave her a voided check pending approval of paperwork. About 1 week passed and I see a debit on my account from Foresters Financial. So I called her to find out what was going on and she apologized for us not being aware payments would go into effect and said we should be getting paperwork any day to review and we’d have 30 days to cancel if after reviewing the paperwork we decided not to keep the policy. Also said she’d be in contact within the week to come back out to review paperwork with us. So we waited. It was a busy week and we hadn’t been checking the mail so we didn’t get the paperwork til almost 2 weeks later. But we also hadn’t heard back from the agent. When we got the paperwork the numbers weren’t what we remembered discussing with the agent and since we’d had not contact from Foresters (as a new customer and all) or from the agent, we decided we would just cancel and stick with a company we were familiar with and had done business with. So I called Foresters Financial to cancel the policy. Before I go on, tracking on the documents they sent showed they hadn’t sent paperwork out until the day after they charged our account. When I called Foresters they advised that I would need to fax in a letter requesting cancellation and that would stop the next payment but my first payment would not be returned because I only had 10 days from policy approval to cancel. I argued the issue but got nowhere so I sent the cancellation request that day by fax with a detailed dispute of the 1st charge and request for return of the 1st deduction. I called the next day to make sure they got the fax and the rep confirmed they had it and assured me that the next payment should not be deducted from my account. Little less than a week later low and behold a 2nd months charge was deducted from our account. When I called this time I was advised that my cancellation request wasn’t sent in time because they needed 5 business days to process the cancellation and that it would take 25 days to process a return. By this time, I’m fuming and spitting fire. So I waited the 25 day processing time. They issued a refund check for the 2nd months charge. As soon as I got it and they confirmed again that they were not refunding the 1st payment, I called USAA who directed me to submit a dispute with their online form. I sent them a copy of the request and dispute I had sent Foresters and the next morning they had already reversed the funds and called me to notify me it had been processed and ask if I needed their help with the return of the 2nd charge. Thank you USAA. Issues like this is why we are loyal customers."
