"I lived at 520 for 4 years and I must say, I do not have 1 single complaint. I moved out because of personal reasons, but I could've easily seen myself living there for another 4 years. Admira, the building manager is absolutely great. Any issue I had, whether big or small, it was always taken care of immediately. She is on point with her tenants. Maintenance was always quick to respond with any issue that came up(not many). The building is always clean, and if it was dirty, it was the fault of the tenants, not neglect. I highly recommend 520. Great people who are very attentive to their residents."

"I have lived in Oak Park/Forest Park area for 20+ years and moved in this unit because it was remodeled and looked great from the pics and while the unit looks really nice here are a few things that will make you want to reconsider. 1. The first reviews of this property are fake and are the actual company writing fake reviews. (The one about bed bugs believe, I’ll explain later) 2. The unit looks very nice when you move in however the first week, I didn’t have heat! The water is always having to be shut off because the pipes are so old and always need service. So imagine having to wait to shower and when you turn it on you have to let it run because the water is brown. 3. The elevator is ALWAYS broken. There’s only one and It’s so slow and if it holds too many people or too much weight it will stop and get stuck. This is also the only way to move into your apartment so it’s always getting stuck or you have to wait a long time. I was told there was nothing they could do with the speed. Imagine living on the 5th floor and the elevator is always broken 1-3 times a week. Don’t believe me call the fire department who always had to come out! 4. When I moved into the unit, everything I was purchased brand NEW, I moved in with nothing but my clothes. Because they continued to remodel units without proper rodent inspection, a lot of the previous tenants were section 8 and lived in the unit for years! The bed bugs traveled to my unit and infested EVERYTHING! I had to throw it all away and got no compensation for it. Admira the property manager will “act” like she’s helpful and nice but will ignore you and forget you existed, even after she said she would assist with repayment. 5. There were homeless people sleeping in the hallways at times before they got an actual lock on the door so now they just climb through the window next to the mailboxes to get in and sleep! Also the side door leading to the parking lot is always broken so you have to walk around to the main entrance to get in. 6. They got rid of the balconies after being told they would be remodeled, over the summer. That was a lie, they removed them and gave Juliet balconies and said by the summer they would start renovating for new ones. Don’t believe it! 7. The management will advertise that you can control your heat with a thermostat however that is a LIE AS WELL. It is forced radiator heat, the thermostat is just there for show. Whenever I complained about the heat, maintenance will come in, remove the cover of the radiator and turn the knob to either lower the heat or increase it. Gordon is his name. (He’s super nice, this review does not include him) 8. There were cracks on the floor by the balcony sliding door that had so many ants and trails. Management just gave me ant spray and left it at that. 9. The Parking lot is uneven and they always have construction so you have to go very slow especially leaving the lot so u won’t destroy ur car. We were told they were going to fix the lot but all they did was repaint the concrete. 10. Then there are the small things like the cheap closet doors that continued to fall off track, the outlets not being installed properly or not working, the outlet covers being cheap and break easily when plugging things up. Tub ceramic was painted over and chipped frequently, I cut my toes twice. Door knobs not working properly and always getting stuck. It always seemed that things were never fully completed. Always done 70% right and it makes a big difference! 11. The gym was a cool feature to have but half the machines never worked or was always broken. So you’d prefer just to go to a gym instead of working out with cheap equipment. Even the village of Forest Park across the street has said they have had so many complaints about the building, and I’m not sure why they haven’t shut it down. But it’s forest park so I expect nothing less! I moved back to Oak Park because they don’t let things go under the radar! Do NOT move into this building. It looks good from the pics but trust me you’ll hate it once moved in!"

"So me and my boyfriend were supposed to move here twice, the first time we applied last year we got approved but they had just began renovations I really liked the apartment but was kinda iffy about moving in before the building was done so we decided to wait until the next year to move in and hopefully the renovations would be done by then. So then Jan comes we reach out the renovations are done, we go see an apartment, we like it we want it. So the manager tells us she remembers us and we don’t have to do a credit check again just pay the deposit and we could move in April 1st. So I’m reaching out to her to pay the security deposit and communication was kinda slow. So finally she texts me and says send the security deposit if we want her to hold the unit a month after we went and seen it. So I’m thinking like who sends a security deposit before signing a lease but whatever so I told her I would pay her the upcoming Friday when I got paid, my card ended up getting cancelled and I reached out to her the following week when my new card came and explained the situation told her I had proof and asked her if I could still pay the deposit and she told me no the unit was taken. So I wasn’t really mad because it’s not like we signed a lease or anything on to the next but what I did have a problem with is that my sister reached out to her a few days later and she told my sister that the unit was still available ! Wow if she didn’t want to rent to us that’s all she had to say ! The unit wasn’t rented out so what was the problem with the security deposit still trying to be paid ! (And I have the messages) I’m glad we didn’t move here probably would’ve had all type of problems with management, we ended up finding a 2 bedroom 2bath for the same price anyway."

"My wife and I visited this property at 520 Desplaine in April. Renovations is being done and everything going to be new.we love it and the location. moving from Schaumburg closer to the city and family. We can't wait til end of January to move to this luxury bedroom apartment."

"This place is infested with bed bugs. Had to break my lease and leave all of my possessions behind. No one stays here for long and no one is worried about breaking their lease because they refuse to hire an exterminator. They won't even notify you of any problems as you're looking at the apartment. Please pay attention to everything if you absolutely do not have a choice but to rent here. Look at the walls, ceilings, vents carpet. Bed bugs everywhere."
