"Dr. Castaneda is great at providing great responses to all our questions and great with our children but sadly he’s located inside the gateway clinic which poses additional hurdles when we visit like check-ins and an answering service (instead of direct dial to the office). Today, I arrived as a walk-in and asked to see the doctor but instead I was sent to the second floor with a resident without having been asked if I was in agreement for my child to be seen by a resident AND was charged my regular co-pay as if it were a visit with the doctor. It’s just very unfortunate that we rarely get to see Dr. Castaneda now a days when we visit and realistically, most of our visits will be walk-in visits since our kids get sick randomly without advance notice. The office staff also have their days and are helpful only when they are having good days or with who they want… I suppose based on my observations. I also do not recommend that you be the kind of parent that objects to anything at this office because then the office staff will retaliate with the service they provide to you at your next visit. I have private insurance but go through the trouble at the gateway clinic because we like Dr. Castaneda but lately I’ve been considering looking for another doctor but options for good pediatricians are so limited in Laredo, TX."
