Candlewood Suites St. Louis - St. Charles, an IHG Hotel,

"Four days after checking out received a 75.30 charge. Called and was told it was because I didn’t check out. After describing the employee in detail that I checked out with, I was told I could receive a refund. How generous of them. Hung up on me when I asked to speak to a manager over the overdraft this caused our account. Was also only given one key card for the room. Went back later that night to ask for a second. They couldn’t find my paper work, and was told if I wanted a second I would need to let and employee into my room without me to verify the description of belongings left in room. Just what every female travelers want- a random person in their room. I’m not dying in a horror movie Candlewood. Gross goobs on the sink. Dirty coffee pot. Ants in kitchen. Furniture had been moved around the room by whom ever, but not put back. Blocking access to one side of bed. This reviewers thoughts: watch your account. This is the THIRD charge I had with them in four days. All random amounts. It’s a tad suspicious that a dirty hotel keeps coming up with reasons to snatch some money up with made up excuses. Wouldn’t trust them with my Credit card again."

"Candlewood has always been my favorite to stay at because of the convenience of being able to cook since most of my stays are 4-12 weeks . Never had any problems until stay at the St. Charles ,Mo. location. I had to ask EVERY single week to have housekeeping go to my room. My scheduled day was a Monday and it always ended up being Wednesday sometimes even till Friday before anyone went to the room . I called IHG after week 4 and complained because the management/from desk told me every Monday it would be taken care of the next day but never was. The last 2 1/2 weeks I was there nobody ever attempted to clean my room and management even knew the first day of the last 2 1/2 weeks it hadn’t been taken care of because she asked me and AGAIN said she would have it taken care of but it never happened. Leadership/guidance is so very poor there . This hopefully doesn’t continue at my next Candlewood stay. I suggest to anyone staying more than a couple of nights at this location to look for something else."

"Unfortunately, the experience in this Candlewood was far from the typical experience my family and I have had in other Candlewood hotels across the country. To begin, we were met by a horrid smell of cigarette. We also noticed that the bathroom had not been cleaned prior to our arrival, there was urine on the toilet seat and drops of urine on the floor. Soon after such, we discovered that neither of the two doors leading to the bathrooms shut close. The A/C in the room was located in the main bedroom. We failed to realize that our kids sleeping on the other room did not have A/C in their room since we had shut our door close for privacy. After speaking witht the friendly front desk worker to explain the situation, I was told that I would get bonus points for the inconvenience. We ended up cutting our trip short by one night given the inconvenience. We were told that the points would show up within a few days. It's been well over a week since our stay and we have yet to receive the bonus points to compensate for the inconvenience. At this point, I wish we could just receive a refund for the whole situation. We will tell others not to stay at this particular location until the rooms are fixed and staff performs thorough cleaning. This location falls short of the quality we have come to experience from other Candlewood locations and IHG related hotels. Someone from corporate needs to take notice and pressure the staff at this location to fix the issues."
