"Really did not get a good first impression of this school, we had to register on August 22nd & I did expect a wait. The lady at the initial window was pleasant & helpful, she assisted the parents by copying the needed forms to enroll . The problem was the lady who took the forms to verify enrollment criteria. She did not introduce herself, seemed REALLY agitated by anyone (staff, parents) asking questions.Yes, there was a waiting room full of parents & it was busy, but her demeanor was not professional, actually eye rolling & making faces, **she has short black hair & glasses. Before she went back to her office where I assume she was verifying my son, she handed me a handbook and forms & told me to fill them out , she said he needed to choose an elective and left. We were given a sheet with electives but no description as to what they were (leadership?).... Now I do not believe in coddling him & make him speak for himself and he clearly asked "can you explain what this course is" when she returned for the forms. Everything was filled out except the elective because we didn't know what it was. She then made a "ugh" sound & made a sour face. She seemed to be calming herself because she paused then said "NO". I said "pardon"? She then clarified I would HAVE TO ask his counselor any questions because she did not have time (pointing to the waiting room), she said "I am busy". Turned around & walked off. We were then passed off to his counselor who was pleasant and did a decent job explaining the classes & then was able to select the elective. Unfortunately the experience turned negative again when handed his schedule told the school was a "box " ( it had the 4 corners & each corner was a letter) and was instructed to "go".... he wasn't told which period it was - wasn't pointed in any direction - just "go". I then asked about his locker and we were told he would have to get one later. He said he was a little late to classes all day & had noticed that there were students (later in the afternoon) being given a tour. Poor kid was thrown in the deep end & had an understandably stressful first day. I understand it was busy, but this must happen every year...is there no way to have extra people assisting? As for the locker, second day he asked his first period teacher (because he missed first period first day ) who suggested he ask at the office, but he didn't have time. Day 3 & he finally took time off from lunch to go ask for one. I'm hoping that this experience is not a glimpse of what to expect."

"This is a great school. All of my children have attended and I have NEVER once had any issues. The teachers are EXCELLENT and are on top of the kids all the time and in constant communication with parents. As for all the comments on the assignment that had to do with religion...My daughter was in the same class with the student that made the allegations and this was totally blown out of proportion due to lack of understanding and communication. The teach is an excellent lady!!!"

"My son attended another Jr. High in the district and MPJH is light years better!! Only reason I did not give it 5 stars was dealing day to day with the current school remodeling. He is a believer and feels free to be who he is in Christ at this school. If he would have been in the class being talked about, we would have rejoiced in his "sufferings" for the Gospel. Good life lesson for our kids to learn. Having said that, we still let the district know what we thought about the indecent, which is also a good life lesson for our kids to learn. The school, nor the district, is anti-Christian, or anti-Faith."

"Teachers, administrators and students, please do your best to ignore the landslide of ignorant and often purile reviews on your site. The teacher was trying to teach a lesson in logic. Logic is a science with definite terminology and parameters. Is the statement that "There is a God" grounded in fact? No, it is not. As the student and her mother themselves corroborate, it is a "belief." Not a "fact." It isn't a problem when people "believe": our Constitution guarantees their right to "believe." But all of that still doesn't make a "belief" into a "fact." It's really too bad that ignorance and paranoia have allowed this to spiral out of control. Please know that for every 100 comments you get on here that the teacher is a "Satanist" (or whatever), there are 100,000 intelligent American adults who understand the actual intent of the lesson and appreciate the teacher's efforts."

"Yeah it's a good school but the take failing grade or deny GOD is ridiculous I hope that teacher gets fired and can't teach again EVER but you know the foods pretty good but I still recommend take your own lunch cause of the line they also have slushis and vending machines and separate gyms that's nice and there BIG. ALTHOUGH they have a small time limits between classes and you don't get to pick if you want a top or bottom locker. But overall it's a great school for kids with good education"
