"I mean I've been at this school since 5th grade and now I'm about to go into my freshman year and what I think about the school in education wise isn't bad if you pay attention in school. Online wise to be honest it's terrible. But being here taught me a lot of things, helped me learn who's real and who's not. The teachers can be bad and some can be good. In my perspective the best ones to me were Ms. Bell, Ms.shah, and Mrs. Dunn. Those are the teachers who actually helped me with problems at home, they gave me food through hard times, helped with my mental state, etc. I'm really grateful to have teacher like those but not all teachers are the same. I've had terrible relationships with others which cause me to actually be scared of one in 5th-6th but i got to a point where they can't physically do anything to me, and i realized most of the things they did were against the rules so i went to the principal multiple times and she never did anything until we got a new one and i kept my distance from her once i was out of her class. (not going to say names but people who know me know) But anyways, with the girls who attend the school, they are mean and talk behind your back but never experienced much of bullying from the students. I guess it's because I keep a small circle of my closest friends. When it comes to the staff some are good some are bad or unhelpful, like the guidance counselor. Can't really go to some because they won't even help they will just tell your business to your parents and it will get worse eventually. But besides that to make it through voyage you have to have someone there for you while being on the correct track. Some people have bad experiences but personally I had my up and downs yet happy I came to this school because I've had worse experiences at other schools. Even though it definitely isn't the best, once you adapt it'll be hard to leave considering how I've been surrounded by the same people since the 5th grade :)"
"(Would rate 2 & 1/2 stars) Voyage has changed a lot from when I first got there in 5th grade, I feel like it was pretty strict and the whole thing with “kippnotizing” wasn’t useful to a lot of girls, but I’m pretty sure they don’t do that anymore. I attended KIPP Legacy prior to attending Voyage and both my parents and I can agree that KIPP’s values and their motto “work hard, be nice” has lost meaning over the years. Some teachers genuinely want you to do good and other’s are just there because it’s their job. Ms. Bell and Ms. Lewis were two of the best teachers that I personally met there and they definitely helped me throughout middle school. As far as sports, the teams aren’t the best, but they’re fun and help with team bonding. Some students actually want to learn but I personally feel like the students that don’t want to learn get in the way of the other’s success, which could be aggravating sometimes. Bullying and fights are definitely a thing, but wether you experience it or not really depends on the people that you associate with. One thing that I didn’t like when I was there was the dress code on free dress days. Hear me out, I agree that there are some things you just shouldn’t wear to school for obvious reasons but one time I wore some jeans with a small rip below the knee, that had a patch under (no skin was showing), and I had to wait in the lobby until my mom brought me another pair of jeans. I understand that they’re just trying to enforce the rules but it shouldn’t get in the way of my education and cause such a big problem. I missed 2 classes that day and I just thought it was unnecessary. While waiting in the lobby I also saw at least 2 other girls walk in with a rip in their jeans and nothing was said to them. I feel like they need to work on prioritizing more important things. Moving on, they teach algebra 1 in 8th grade which is a high school class so it’s cool that you get to earn that credit early and have algebra 2 or geometry in your freshman year. Overall, it’s your average middle school."
"I’ve been in that school since 5th grade and ever since I’ve been there it just made my life worst. Girls assume things about you, and most teachers don’t help at all. They always talk about bullying and “being nice” but they don’t mean it. The bullying is so bad that I started to cut and I had to deal with it because no one would do nothing about it. I wish they could do something about that."
"Ive been here for 3 years from 6th grade to 8thgrade and honestly it mostly sucks but that's cause middle sucks. This school just made it worse. Some teachers are really understanding and actually care about you while others complain about how they don't get paid enough to be handling us kids. The students are really mean although I haven't been bullied I know some girls have and girls do talk about you behind your back. The school also has some difficulties with the counsler if you ever go here don't tell the counsler anything she will tell your parents and your mental health will just get worse(speaking directly about ms*coughVcoughOcoughGcoughT*) I like that you get algebra in 8th grade but it adds a lot of stress to understand something your most likely not ready for. I also really hate the value queen thing because they force you to take a picture and nobody likes pictures at the end of the day unless your one of those girls lots of fights but you wont get in one if you mind your own biz. If you come I doubt you would feel lonely there the Hispanic group there's a black group there's a anime freak group(small but v friendly) there's also the very gay group that has all the mental health issues but the best crowd to be around cause they won't judge you like the first 2. That's all for my very long review: ) also ps they stalk your socials to see if you ben taking pics at school"
"This has been the worst experience ever! We sincerely regret having enrolled our daughter in this school. The staff beginning with the principal to teaching staff is so unprofessional! My daughter went from being a straight A honor roll student to a failing student in less than two years! Teachers were unwilling to communicate with me, and when I came in person looking for help and answers I would be denied access to her teachers. Fights were continuous in this campus and the principal stated that is normal in between girls! It really saddens me to know that this campus is such a bad asset to the KIPP Academy program! If you are a parent that cares for your daughter education, I suggest you think about it not twice but more before you enroll her here!"
