Elm Grove Elementary School

"Best school and my kids love it there! My son went from 1st grade to 5th and my daughter from kindergarten to her current 3rd grade. Best teachers ever!"

"Pros: teachers are nice, and kind to students, Cons: a lot of bullying goes on at this school, most students get away with this behavior, and dont expect the principal to actually look into it, she says she does but does not, or never officially reports this to the district as it is policy. There was a time, my child had been sent home with bruising on her arms from what looked identicle to adult finger prints on her arm, i asked her what happend, she said the teachers aid in her special education classroom had yanked her back leaving bruises on her arm, she was in 3rd grade.I was later told the investigation was complete and that the teachers aid had never done this to my child, even after my daughter was appologised to by the teacher in question. There was another time my child came home so emotionally stressed out over a child in her classroom cussing up a storm, when i went to the principal about this, she said what would you have us do? i said according to your student handbook, this kind of behavior is not allowed or tolerated withinn hisd school districts and removal of the student is the usual outcome, even though i am not suggesting to remove her, i was suggesting remove my daughter into another area to be able to study, an learn without this child in the same area. principal tried yet again to sway me off this, this had been going on for months, and i was frusterated that noone would do anything to help, especially the principal. I have seen in many cases, teachers crying in the hallway, most of our favorite ones have left in the last few years, due to being bullied by the principal herself, one unnamed teacher was told if she went to take time off for her husband was dieing of cancer, she can look for a different job.(nice huh?) this place can be a great school, but the teachers and staff are not respected, the principal no matter how many complaints in the past their have been, is still working there till this day. i have NO idea how she manages to keep her job with such behavior. My advice to you is find a different school!!"

"Elm Grove Elementary has an amazing staff. They are friendly, helpful and extremely accomodating. Both of my sons have attended this school. My youngest son started in kindergarten and is now in the 3rd grade. Every year I think he had THE BEST teacher the year prior and every year gets BETTER. He has a great repoire with all the staff from the students to the janitors. This elementary school has kept us from ever moving. Keep up the great work!"
