About the Business

Clayton Community Theatre

Clayton Community Theatre, located at 6501 Clayton Road in Clayton, Missouri, offers a diverse range of performances for audiences to enjoy. Currently, they are showcasing two exciting productions: "The Play That Goes Wrong" by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, and "Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare.

In "The Play That Goes Wrong," audiences are taken on a hilarious journey with the Cornley University Society as they struggle through technical mishaps, forgotten lines, and sabotaging scenery during their opening night performance. This 1920s whodunit is a mix of Monty Python and Sherlock Holmes, promising a night of disastrous delight.

On the other hand, "Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare offers a more classic experience with sword fights, mistaken identities, and misplaced affection. This beloved comedy is a great introduction to Shakespeare's works, filled with clever humor, joyful moments, and poignant poetry.

Thanks to the support of the Missouri Arts Council, Clayton Community Theatre is able to bring these productions to life and offer financial assistance to those in need. Don't miss out on the opportunity to enjoy these fantastic performances at Clayton Community Theatre.

"Very well done community theater. They did Murder on the Nile. Top-drawer amateur theatre company."

"Every time I attend a show here I am amazed at how well they put on complicated productions in limited space. Production values high for community theater and the acting is top notch. The venue is accessible, with handicap parking and an elevator to the seating, and they accommodate wheelchairs. Highly recommend for a fun evening."

"Nice big parking lot, pretty building with an elevator (for those of us who can't do stairs) and a women's restroom on each floor. The men's is only on the lower level. The seats were comfortable and the stage layout is very good, with nice views to be had from any angle. Concessions were available for very reasonable prices ($1 for a cold bottled water!). Friendly staff made it easy to navigate and feel welcome."

"Just saw The Laramie Project at the Clayton Community Theatre! The production was amazing. The play took me back to a time that was a poignant and a difficult point of reflection for the state of our country! The actors each played many roles in the production and did an amazing job of embodying each role presenting the broad spectrum of responses and reactions to the Matthew Shepard case! I was riveted and moved to tears by the performance. The venue is intimate, and the minimalist set combined with lighting and strong character acting evoked a strong sense of connection to the audience! I very much recommend checking out the play while it runs and look forward to future productions as well!"
