"I walked into this shop to buy some supplies and fill my tires on a short ride from Joliet to Starved Rock. Even though I was the only person in the store, the owner didn’t hesitate to convey what a massive chore it was for him to retrieve the pump that was behind him. He said “lean your bike against this” pointing to the corner of the glass counter, so I very gingerly did. “NOT ON THE GLASS!!” he barked, “PUT IT ON THE FLOOR!”. He then proceeded to try to make me feel stupid in any way he could - many of his attempts didn’t even make sense. For instance, he attempted to belittle me for calling them Presta valves instead of French valves. I’ve never heard anyone call them French valves. He also tried to make me feel stupid for about 5 other things in the space of a minute. Listen, in the past 12 months I’ve biked across 9 different states. I’m not a professional bike mechanic, but I know a thing or two. Anyways, the whole thing ended with me thanking him for the use of his pump and him laughing and replying “you need to go to bicycle school.”"

"Awesome customer service. Roy (the owner) is very friendly and offers personal care and service. Roy went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable with the recumbent stationery bike before purchasing. He showed me the correct distance the seat should be for my height. Him and his wife delivered the bike the same night at no charge to our home 40 miles away. I would highly recommend Grand Cycle for your bicycle needs."

Repairs are done onsite, promptly and for a fair price. They also won't try to sell you service and/or parts that you don't need. They are honest, helpful and not pushy. In fact, I think that Roy must be a mind reader, because out of all the bikes on the floor, he chose to show me one in my favorite color, purple! After an exhilarating "test drive" around the shop, I treated myself to a brand new beautiful Giant Liv bicycle. It is the first new ride that I have purchased in almost 30 years and will no doubt the the last that I will ever need! It is the most comfortable, well designed, high quality and stylish bicycle that I have ever been on. It is a fabulous ride! There are gorgeous summer and fall days ahead, so do yourself a favor and go visit Grand Schwinn Cyclery soon! Like me, I bet that you will be glad that you did!"

"Traveling across country, so stopped at bike shop for basic things:chain cleaner, lube, button hole. Told I didn't need to clean my chain. Only apply lube if chain is completely dry and only city people need but' butter. He also commented on our wearing padded shorts. Will find a different bike shop down the road."
