"The Old Western Life Build Site has several potential uses, one of which is as a luxury conference hotel with a sky bridge leading to the Historic Yucca Theater. An upstairs lobby could be accessed via a sky bridge or tunnel. To transform the Yucca into a conference center or concert venue similar to the Permian Basin Theater in Odessa, an upgrade and expansion costing between $18 to $25 million is necessary. Funding for this project could be obtained from public and private sources. The Yucca is designated as a Texas landmark, and Marriott Hotels has previously expressed interest in such a project. Additional property has been offered to the Midland Community Theater in the past to expand the Yucca or could be obtained through eminent domain. These proposals are presented by Jon Langley of Texas Electric Service."
