"Terrible. Confirmed my benefits when I scheduled the appointment, this is the only reason to get 1 star. This person was professional, we discussed all my concerns, X-ray situation, child has special needs and needs urgent help with 8 teeth. Failed to call me and confirm the appointment in advance. On the day of the visit suddenly we are “out of network”, upon calling the insurance and confirming the “in-network” status front desk lady claimed that we “do not have dental coverage at all”. It's either they don’t want to deal with special needs children or are so incompetent that can’t check the coverage. Then I called the Mount Prospect office to discuss with a manager my insurance and reschedule the appointment. The front desk lady instead of checking my dental coverage said that i “do not have coverage”. I called my insurance company right away and they confirmed that both offices are in the BCBS network, and there are no issues with coverage on insurance company's end. Manager did not even bother to resolve the issue, she left voicemail “don’t call me today i will call you tomorrow” and for a few weeks i heard nothing. At this point it was obvious that office wanted to get cash payment instead of charging the insurance and milk me for more money that they would get from insurance. I have no desire to bring my child to this office and certainly would recommend my friends and parents of children with special needs stay away."

"Parents and Guardians don’t just take my word, please read YELP reviews too! I wish I had! My child’s crowns performed by Dr. Pollina, became infected four months later. Have now been removed by another dentist. This is exactly what I feared and I fought to have them extracted to avoid my child going through UNNECESSARY work on baby teeth. Instead I was manipulated into getting the work done. There are many dentist out there! Find another!"

"We're long time patients of his and after several years with the same dental insurance, we switched to Delta Dental. Since we are current and have been relatively happy with our care, we show up for our scheduled appointment and ask, are we "in network" with this new plan? They take the card, copy it, and reassure me twice during that visit, "yes, we are in network." I say out loud, "are you sure? Because if we are not, we are going to leave and reschedule" They reiterate, "yes, we are. Don't worry about it." When the proceed to get routine services that are listed as "100% covered" per our plan. Two weeks later, we get a bill. We suffer on hold with Delta and find out, "NO he is not part of our network." I call for clarification. The billing manager at his office tells us, "sorry, we are not in your Delta network, so you are going to have to pay this bill which is over $300." Furious, I remind her of our convo on the day of service. No luck. They want our money and we feel that this "surprise billing" was at best an error of incompetence, or at worst, an willful omission in orer to get a higher payment as out of network providers. We canceled our upcoming appointments and will not be going back."

"Love love love our kids dentist. Daughter has had her expander, braces on and off and her retainer all in over a year. Now the retainer is for just at night until her other teeth come in. Always so caring and everyone there remembers little details about the kids. See you in 6 months Dr. Polina!!!"

"Dr. Pollina and his staff have been our son's dentists for over 10 years now, seeing him from Baby Teeth to Braces and beyond. Our son, who has Special Needs, has always been treated with great kindness, care and patience by Dr. Pollina, the other doctors and staff at both the Barrington and Mount Prospect offices. In fact, our son began to look forward to his visits to see Dr. Pollina, which was due entirely to the quality of the care and the kindness behind it. We have never seen any other parents or children unhappy for any reason, and highly recommend both offices to anyone needing pediatric dentistry."
