Byrds Hot Chicken Algonquin

"I wanted to love this place…I really did! But I got the 2 sandwiches for $10 tonight. One for today, one for tomorrow. The guy at the counter was super nice and “deconstructed” the second sandwich for me for tomorrow so it didn’t get soggy. But the portions of everything on the sandwich were sub par. I think I may have gotten 1 pickle and there was such a small amount of coleslaw that it looked bare. But lastly, the size of the chicken breast I got looked closer to a chicken tender than a breast, worthy of a bun. So there was a lot of bare bun (no pun intended). I peeled the excess bun off to just eat what was around the chicken and needless to say, I had a lot of the bun left. The chicken I did have (I got medium spice—not very spicy) was juicy, crispy and fresh. The flavor was very good. But for the whole experience, I probably won’t return."

"Byrd’s hot chicken is so good! Ordered 3 tenders, 2 medium and 1 hot. The tenders were really good size and the chicken was tender and juicy. The breading was light and had a really good flavor. The medium level had minor heat but the hot definitely jumped up but wasn’t unbearable. The 24k sauce was a nice compliment to the tenders. Overall the tenders were great and I look forward to returning. VISIT 2: Had to come back to Byrds after a visit to the newly opened Dave’s Hot Chicken the day before and I my pick is Byrds. The chicken tenders were more juicy and tender, were larger in size and the breading was also much better at Byrds. I know what my pick is going forward in Algonquin."

"This was my first time here. Ordered the Byrd Bomb to go which is usually dangerous when your meal involves fries and fried food. Everything was perfect, chicken AND fries were crispy and well seasoned. Presentation when I opened the box was better than expected. I would definitely come again. Gentleman who took my order was very kind and helpful."

"Tried this for the first time. I can say without a doubt it's fantastic. The options of what type of chicken you get is pretty straight forward (sandwich, tenders, wings) but the flavors that you can on the spice level is great. We got both medium and hot level (the owner indicated that hot would be spicy for sure). Both had good flavor but hot was definitely hot. The heat kicks in a bit after you take the bite. There's still one more level of hot (which we didn't try). We also got the green beans and fries. The green beans were sooooo good (we got them with medium spice). The fries were also excellent, we asked for crispier and they were perfectly crispy. The portions are large (the tenders especially) so just note that if you're not a heavy eater. The place itself is kept very clean as well. One thing I wish we had read was that there were plant based options, just to try it. So if you're vegetarian, you too can enjoy this place!! I'll definitely be back to this place for sure!!"

"I love this place. This time I got the Byrd bomb which is the chicken, fixings, and fries. It was very filling. For the price the portion size was good. I will probably be able to eat out of this 3 times. The 24k sauce is also good by itself to dip in the fries. If you are sensitive to spicy foods air on the side of the more mild levels."
