"I have ate at Back Water a few times now both breakfast and supper..they are both great but I'd have to say that the Breakfast on the weekends are my favorite. Jami has been my waitress each time. She is the sweetest and she makes sure she gets your order right. Shane has some cooking skills....dont tell him i said that though! The biscuits and gravy are delicious!! Its been a while since I've had HOMEMADE GRAVY from a restaurant! The pancakes are bigger than the plate they serve it on. Michelle is awesome and extremely consciencious about serving the best food! Seriously Guys this place is a hidden gem for a great price!"

"Decided to take a shot on this place after seeing a few good reviews. Called about 10 minutes ahead to place an order, then waited another 20-30 minutes upon arrival. Food was still cold. Burgers were dry, over cooked, and salty as can be. Didn’t finish. Side salad was thrown together with huge chunks of tomato and cucumber. Just very poorly made food. Don’t know why I waited for cold food, when the place wasn’t that busy. At least the cook was nice but take your money elsewhere. A dozen different places in the county to get good bar food."

"Tonight, my husband, son, and I were hungry and almost everywhere in DuQuoin was closing soon. We decided to try Backwater since it's close to home and was open. We both got a double spicy burger and our son got a grilled cheese kids meal. The server was extremely friendly, inviting, and diligent (even managed to refill our drinks without us noticing). The food came out and I'm not kidding, we were in awe. The burgers were absolutely amazing and extremely filling. We both had to take a patty off in order to eat it because they were so big. The fries that came with it were definitely house cut fries, seasoned to perfection. Being 9 months pregnant, generally I can eat a ton of food, but I got a to go box. My son (who is usually too busy too eat at restaurants, mind you he's 3) devoured his grilled cheese in minutes and a large amount of his fries. The cook personally came to check on us as well and had such a great lively personality. For all three of our dinners, our total was $35.00 (after tax but before tip). Absolutely well worth every bit of it. We will definitely be back many many times. If you haven't tried Backwater, definitely give it a try."
