Alta River Oaks

"For reference, I've lived in apartments all over the city and its outskirts for 20+ years. Be warned about this complex. The only reason to live here is the location - close proximity to everything, including the bayou and lots of shopping & grocery stores. And the resident parking is pretty good for its size. Maintenance team has also always been pretty good and nice. It's pretty on the inside in the public spaces, but misleading. Downsides? Fire alarms always going off all over the building all day every day; the emergency fire alarms going off weekly at this point at night making the entire building evacuate and fire department come out. The wifi in the Sky Lounge never works (which means the tv's don't work either), so it's a cute room with a great view for you to do just about nothing in. The club room has broken pool sticks and tv only works half the time, hasn't been fixed in the 2 years I've been here. There's cameras in some places, but they're never used to determine who keeps letting their dogs pee in the elevators and elevator entrances every day or leaving their full size garbage bags random places in the garage even though there is valet trash pickup at your door in your contract automatically. The pool stays so dirty throughout the warm months - mildew just growing and growing. It's also on the 3rd floor and shaded by the surrounding units, so it doesn't get good sun - fine on a burning hot day to have shade, not great when you want to feel the sun or warm the water. When items go missing or get broken in the gym or club rooms, don't hold your breath that they will ever be replaced. I moved from one unit to another on a different floor and the light switches and appliances were all different, like they rushed to finish this apartment and didn't feel like adding the rest of the outlets and switches. The primary bedroom is so small, I can't open my bedroom door barely halfway before it gets stopped b the foot of my bed. But they say "King size definitely fits!"...I have a queen and have to shimmy through the door... Also, at the end of my first year, one of the managers spoke terribly about one of the other office ladies saying she'd been let go because she was lying and all kinds of things. Guess that wasn't true because she was back in the office maybe 6 months later. Chloe is the absolute sweetest, but she's on maternity leave. The others are really nice in your face, but do that thing where they tell you they can't do anything about anything, but pretend they really care. All in all, it's a hit or miss...with a lot of misses."

"I'm not happy with the maintenance of the building. More than a month ago, I requested to change the water filter in the hallway, which is EXPIRED and has not yet been changed. Should I drink potentially contaminated water? I read a comment from someone else that the gym's water filter hadn't been changed for a year, and it's happening again. My stove is no longer working, and it's been five days since anyone came to fix it. The walls and floors of the apartments are very thin and you can hear the residents upstairs all the time."

"They have EV parking spots but the “plugs don’t work” & the only other area you can charge your car you have to pay for. Their email response was basically that they are fully aware but are not planning to fix it anytime soon. Considering how inflated rent is you would think this wouldn’t be an issue"

"My friends and I had a tour scheduled at 2:30. When we walked in there was no one in the front and when we asked for assistance, the lady with the blonde hair came out and looked surprised that we were there. She then proceeded to let us know that she was grabbing the leasing agent, but then we were left waiting. We heard people laughing in the back and talking, but no one was out assisting us or asking us any questions about what we’re looking for or anything. Highly disappointed and didn’t feel as if we were being taken seriously. My friend was ready to sign today and we ended up walking out to view another apartment. Highly disappointed and didn’t even get a chance to view anything."

"Let me start by saying that I had checked out a few places online and visited two other places in person in the same vicinity prior to checking out Alta. Walking in to my appointment at Alta I was greeted by one of the sweetest leasing agents, Autumn. I gave her and idea of what I was looking for and she was quick to inform and show me my options. You know that anxious feeling you get after asking an agent a ton of questions and asking to see all kinds of units? Well, Autumn did an amazing job at making me feel comfortable to ask anything. I was very adamant about getting a unit with a sunset or sunrise view and she did everything she could to show me anything that was available to my liking. I fell in love with their business center and clubhouse due to all the seating availability for me to be able to work remotely. The property is very clean, well kept, and it's pretty cool that each unit has a balcony and floor to ceiling windows. I've been here two months now and honestly don't have any complaints about anything. I've enjoyed my view every single day since I've moved I'm happy to be living in a property where management cares about their residents and does little events to show appreciation to its residents."
