Memorial Village Apartments

"I'll start off by saying I've lived here for going on 9 years, and still currently live here. BUT since Asset Living bought these apartments, they've stopped allowing full year lease options. They raised the rent nearly 70% in 6 months, and they won't tell you they're raising the rent until it's far too late for you to find somewhere else to live. A year ago I would've thought you were crazy for living anywhere else, now I will gladly tell you to go somewhere else. It's sad when greed takes over, but apparently that's what happens when a multi-billion dollar company comes in, they raise the rent so the CEO can afford his 4th yacht. Stay away from anything managed by Asset Living. My roommate had his catalytic converter stolen from his truck in the parking lot, and we found they stole another persons catalytic converter the same night, and a couple months later another tenant had a tire stolen off of their car. But tell me why they're raising rent and still haven't added any sort of security, or cameras that actually can see anything in the parking lot. I also found out a van was stolen completely and car windows regularly get broken into. Update 7/3/2023 My lease is all utilities paid, yet this month they decided it wasn't and tried to charge me utilities. Then told me it was MY problem to figure it out with the third party company THEY decided to work with. On top of that I've been having an ongoing case of being doubled charged my rent, which causes an overdraft fee, which they refuse to reimburse, they continue to blame "the accountant at my bank" and point all fingers away from themselves. Again, none of this happened until Asset Living bought this property. Update 1/3/2024 After 10 years, they've finally screwed up enough that I will be moving out. The apartment managers are all liars, and they have decided to say my all bills paid lease doesn't exist anymore and that starting today I have to pay utilities. I would stay as far away from this complex as you possibly can, because they don't adhere to any agreements you make with them. The new manager refused to work with me, and the apartments as a whole are on a steep decline. Water issues every 2 weeks, cockroaches are starting to spread everywhere through the complex, although they aren't in my unit, they used to just be in the parking lots at night, now they're not just in the parking lots anymore. You have to dodge them on your way to the dog park or laundry room at night (just never go outside at night), there's no washer and dryers in units, and the laundry room is almost always completely full, so unless you like doing laundry at 2am, or sitting in the laundry room until someone finally moves their clothes, find a laundromat. The holes in the roof still leak from Harvey, which was nearly 7 years ago, the security problems are still rampant, I've heard of 3 break ins of cars just in the past year. There's dog poop EVERYWHERE, even though they threaten people with a fine for not picking up after their dogs. They clearly have no loyalty to those that have lived here for a long time, and like I said before, the apartments are declining so I don't see it turning around anytime soon. Just stay away unless you want a headache, lies, theft, and a deteriorating complex. Oh, and if you see Buffy's review, just know she doesn't work here anymore and everything she said is 100% true. Until she left."

"I have been living here for 4 months after moving from overseas. I live alone until my family arrive later. I have managed to secure an apartment here dealing with Diana from my home country. For a temporary place to live for a few months, this place is perfect for me. The apartment has been furnished and utility/internet included in the rent. The staff at management office are kind hearted people. They are friendly and full of empathy. I would recommend this place for sure."

"My experience living in this apartment complex has been amazing, the staff is phenomenal at what they do, they made me feel at home even before moving in! They always have a smile and get a solution to any concern I have had. To me this place is home! I have recommended these apartments to friends and they all have great comments on their stay, so whether you are looking for something temporary, short term or long term this is a great option. Forgot to mention that the location is convenient as it is close to HEB, Kroger and Walmart, the Memorial Mall, great options for food around as well as parks for a walk or sun bathing. I am happy living here as all the neighbors are kind and caring and the community feel is beyond words! Thanks Memorial Village Apartments for what you do for us!"

"Hi there! I have been working at Lafayette West well over 17 years. My staff and I take pride in this property and go above and beyond to accommodate our tenants. We do our best to ensure everyone's stay is as comfortable as possible. With that being said, I would like to address a few of the listed reviews. The review from Blackeney, stems from anger of being evicted. I won't go into detail. So keep in mind their review is completely false. We treat our property 2-3 times a year for fleas and spray the grass often with dawn and water. (natural flea killer) As for Rushar Topal, we have no idea who that is or what their talking about. All maintenance work orders are done at the tenants request or in emergency cases. The only other access is Housekeeping and that is assigned when the tenant moves in. So everyone is well aware when we need access to a unit. Most of our housekeeping and maintenance staff have been here 25+ years. Never once have we had a complaint of a missing or stolen item. So as you can see, some of these reviews are from people who never leased an apartment from us, people who never voiced their concern directly to us (so that we could correct any issues) or someone that was evicted.
