"A family member recently went to the practice for a complaint of congestion and feeling run down. They were tested for Covid/RSV/Flu, and were negative. They gave her some steroid shots. They sent out her samples for "additional testing". I received the lab bill in the mail, and our part was over $200 (lab charged $400 to insurance). Unfortunately the family member was young and didn't know that she should question whether this was necessary and how much it would cost. We then received the bill from Deerwood, for which the total billed was $490, our part being over $200 again. For one appointment for which she was eventually told she must just have a virus that would go away on its own, we have to pay over $400 and the insurance company was billed over $800? We will definitely not be going there again. By the way, I was told as I was negotiating this "if you contact Healthtrackrx and ask them to lower the amount they will lower it down." (Healthtrackrx was the other company who did further labs.) But FYI Deerwood will not. 2/14/2024: In response to the owner's comment below, I would like to say that I understand I must pay the patient's responsibility. Here is what I don't understand: why so many exorbitant tests were ordered for a virus (which I would have questioned if I was the patient given my years of experience dealing with medical bills, but the young family member did not know to do this) AND why I was told the other party would have lowered the charges if I had requested but Deerwood will not. The family member was taken advantage of, and I have had other people tell me similar stories of their experiences at Deerwood. By the way, I still do not know what the extra tests were for so we paid all of that money just to be told they were negative and received no report."

"In short, a dreadful 2 month experience with this practice. It became clear that patient results and well being were not a priority with each weekly visit. This office is focused and driven on fiscal results rather than patient satisfaction (I believe these two can coincide). Staff administering weekly visits were not sociable or friendly which probably affected the communication portion of my complaint. I came to this practice for weight control and was referred by a coworker in the medical field. Great, right? Not so much. My initial weight was not registered along with a lack of dialogue between myself and the med assistants or nurses that would administer weekly shots. It wasn't until my 7th visit that Shawn Mollica (owner/partner) saw me. This was a different experience, for the better, and learned that I was well underdosed the previous weeks while paying the $20 visit each visit. The visits were roughly 20-25 min spent in the waiting room followed with a ~5 min weigh in and quick shot. I was told during my consult that each visit for the shot would be 5 min in and out. My last visit included a 45 min wait in the waiting room (I am very patient) until I approached the office window to ask if I had been looked over. At this point, I was told they were trying to get me to the back but my appointment was scheduled too early. So.....when was somebody going to notify me that I was wasting my time in the office? The deflection and attitude was heavy when I asked to speak to somebody who could give me answers as to why I couldn't receive my weekly dose. The appt scheduler told me it was fine when I made the appt in person the previous week. They also send you texts days before your visit to "check in," why wasn't this detected at that time? 30 min drive in traffic and 45 min in the office of my time wasted and nobody took any accountability. My final question was, how many shots do I have left? "3", 3 shots at what dosage? crickets...... Family Practice/Med Spa with an offsite medical director not focused on patient results. Again, Shawn was pleasant and I hope this review results in some quality control and happy patients to follow."

"Even though the providers are only PA’s they are invested in their clients. However, get ready to wait because they over book. The only reason I don’t switch providers is because I’ve been coming here for 2 years and I don’t feel like starting all over with a new provider. It’s annoying to have an appt at 9:30 and be seen an hour later. Every time I come I have to wait at least 30 mins. But one can’t be late or they cancel your appt. If you have a flexible schedule and live close by, this is a wonderful practice. For reference, my whole family comes here."

"Hey there, folks! I just wanted to share my recent experience with this practice. Overall, I'd say it's a 3 out of 5 stars from me. Let me break down why. I had to get some lab work done, and knowing LabCorp's expertise in drawing blood, I decided to request that my orders be sent there. Unfortunately, my past encounters with blood draws at this office weren't exactly smooth sailing. I called in to ask the staff to send my orders to LabCorp. The staff member I spoke to seemed a bit short in her responses, leaving me unsure if she really understood what I was asking. I had to ask her to repeat my request, and even then, she didn't provide clear steps or a timeline for getting the orders sent. It was a bit of a struggle, and I felt like I was left hanging. Eventually, after some back and forth, she told me that she'd send the orders through regular mail – not email, which felt a bit old-fashioned – and I'd have to take charge of scheduling everything. It hit me that if I hadn't pushed for clarity, I might have been waiting in the dark for weeks. Now, on to the positive side. My PA has been fantastic – really on the ball. And I've heard good things about the other PAs there too. It's just unfortunate that the front office staff's communication and professionalism aren't up to the same standard. If they could find front office staff who are as great as the medical team, this place would be a whole lot more enjoyable to deal with. Here's to hoping they take some steps to improve that aspect because it could really make a difference in the overall experience. Cheers!"

"I have been going to Deerwood Family Practice since it opened. Shawn Mollica has been my dr for over 25 years. Shawn and her office has been the best thing for me and my family. They are personal they take their time with each and everyone.The office is clean and everyone is friendly. I have sent several family and friends to Deerwood and Shawn and everyone has loved her and her staff.I highly recommend anyone looking for a new dr...give them a call."
