"I loved my OB, doctor rogers, but she wasn’t on call when I had my daughter. My experience at this hospital was far from what I wanted. As a FTM I didn’t know what to expect but after replaying it over and over, there was some consent issues that I tried to voice but the nurses and doctor didn’t listen. I wanted my cord to be cut after it was done pulsating. They tried immediately and when I spoke up they gave me maybe 2 extra minutes then cut. I wanted my placenta to exit on its own but the OB was in a rush to get me out of there. While I was staying in my room to recover the nurses were extremely pushy and literally grabbed my hand to place the pills and water I didn’t want into my hands to take. I also had a breast feeding specialist come into my room and not help me at all or say I was doing it completely wrong which I finally figured out when my sister came to visit me. I also told the nurses what I wanted when I first got to the hospital and they all were extremely rude and trying to talk me into interventions I didn’t want. All of this to say, I felt like a burden, I felt like a number, and I felt like my voice wasn’t heard. I will not be returning to this hospital to give birth. If you are seeking a more unmedicated, natural, spiritual birth, I wouldn’t come here as they seem to just want to line their pockets and be done with you."

"I believe my rating can be better if the following were to change if I have another baby in this hospital. I was completely healthy during pregnancy, gained only 25 lbs and had a 9.3 lb beautiful baby boy. My water broke early on to labor 2 cm. Racing against “time” they made me feel like I was hurting my baby if I go out past the 24 hr mark with my water broke. My Dr was not on call instead it was one in her rotation. At the time it felt like a C Section was the only option. During labor, I was trying to get in their shower Jets but I needed Dr approval. When they offered pitocin and I asked if I could still use the Jets the nurses said Yes they can give me a water proof sleeve to protect the IV. I get the pitocin then asked permission to use the jet, the Dr changed confirmation and said that is prohibited with pitocin?! Then I ask for the nitrous oxide to help me through my contractions, which I had mentioned in the beginning of my labor. The nurses bring out two different ones and can’t figure out how it works, they bring another nurse that knows how to work it and turns out the machines were broken. Hours pass by without the pain management I had planned for (the hydrotherapy Jets and the gas) and I give in to epidural. Epidural is known for slowing down the birth progress and you must lay down still on bed. UNNATURAL. You cannot move with an epidural, you’re body from the neck down goes numb. You can’t feel a thing when the nurses get you in laboring positions. The dr coming in through out my labor checking my cervix for dilation, uncomfortable. Stating because I had a birth plan it was probably the reason my body didn’t want to progress and it’s C sections aren’t scary they can guarantee a healthy baby with them. At the 24 hr mark in the middle of the night asleep I get woken up that they highly suggest C Section and a new Dr and nurses were going to be coming into shift. Fearing going into emergency c section later on into labor with complete strangers I opted into C section. C section should be advised very carefully new coming Mothers. I am almost 10 m post partum and my incision scar is still sore. It took full 2 months to heal and be able to lift my body into a sitting up position to nurse my baby. During the c section I was falling to sleep and almost missed my baby cry. The rest of the day I was crying half asleep asking the nurses to do something to wake me up so I can attend to my baby. Turning to wipe my behind felt like a huge burn on my lower stomach region. My husband and the post partum nurses were angels. The nurse staff in the delivery ward and triage as well were sweet. My Dr was nice as well but wish I was more informed on c section and pitocin procedures. Now my next baby will either have to be a scheduled c section or vbac which it’s not guaranteed. Don’t let my review scare you, I have hope this hospital can improve if they hire midwives on staff, give more information on c section post partum. Pros •The labor room is huge. •Nurses are sweet. •Hydrotherapy if you’re able to use it (don’t get pitocin or this won’t be an option for you no matter what they tell you.) •Post partum room has a Murphy bed for the partners to sleep •Post partum meals were actually good and nutritious. •Cleaning staff come in daily. •ankle monitor on baby very protective, so no one can grab and run off with your baby. Cons •This place on leapfrog chart published in 2015 has a rating of 30% c section rate with nearby hospitals being 19-20% •a relative of mine was also pushed a C-section making her fear that her second baby would get stuck. •nitrous oxide machines are faulty/ didn’t work at time and nurses aren’t equipped with how to use it. •on the tour of the hospital they state baby will be roomed with you and never leave your room any additional testing can be done in the room. Note: this was not true for our case, they came in twice at night to due additional testing and we persisted on following them. Additional side notes: Will need to bring your own peanut and birthing ball."

"Worst experience ever. My doctor did not deliver my child so there was someone in replace of him & the doctor that did was training 2 others so as I pushed my baby out I was told 2-3 times to stop pushing while my baby was coming out. Recovery has been hard with the amount of soreness I am enduring. I requested that the umbilical cord not be cut before it completely finished pulsating; they did not listen & clamped it not even 1 minute after delivery. All daytime nurses were rude & every nurse at shift change had different ways of doing things; no one was on the same page with information or how they wanted things done. I had my 1st child at Harris & wish I would have went back!! Labor, delivery & recovery was no where near as painful as my experience here was. Would not recommend to anyone! Only good thing was each & every night shift nurse was amazing."

"I had a very great experience delivering my daughter here. My obgyn Dr. Lusby was amazing. The nurses who helped deliver my baby as well as my postpartum nurse were so sweet, patient and very knowledgeable. I can’t say enough good things about them both. I will definitely be back to deliver here again. Thank you so much for making my birthing experience a pleasant one."
