Chimney Chic

"We were referred to Chimney Chic by a trusted, local source. She came right away, and was very caring and spent quite a bit of time with us, free of charge. We had contacted her to sweep our chimney after we had smoke come into the house when a fire was lit. The wood stove was only 4 years old so we thought it simply needed a chimney cleaning. When Christine arrived, quite early on in our discussion, she mentioned her services "were not cheap." She then proceeded to explain she was unable to simply clean our chimney because the wood burning stove had been installed improperly and it would be expensive to rectify the situation. We told her we would get in touch with the original installer and get back to her. She then recommended a couple DIY things we might try. We were unsuccessful in reaching the original installer so we contacted Red River Chimney in Clarksville and they came out the next day and were EARLY! In 15 minutes they had cleaned the chimney and taken photos to prove it was clean. Certainly, how the stove was installed did not prevent them from being able to clean the chimney. In addition, they said we had been burning the correct type of wood at a hot temperature and, as a result, there wasn't a heavy accumulation of creosote. This was not the cause of the smoke in the house. It was because it was so cold outside, when the fire was lit, the cold air occupying the chimney forced the hot air/smoke back down into the house. On really cold days, we need to start the fire slowly, giving the air in the chimney time to heat up. They built a fire after cleaning to show all was working properly. AND the bill was SUPER reasonable! Based on our experience with Chimney Chic we would definitely not recommend this company. We have given her 2 stars instead of 1 simply because she was prompt and courteous."

"As a home and building inspector I understand the value of preventive maintenance. We use our supplementary wood furnace a lot in the winter and we needed someone to clean the flue and look our system over for any performance and safety issues. Christine was on time, ready to work, and thoroughly cleaned our system so it’s ready to fire up here in a few more weeks. She did so well that we asked her to clean our wood fireplace system too. Both systems look like brand new! We’re grateful for Christine’s keen eye, attention to detail, and great work ethic. It is nice to have someone in the local area of Buchanan, Dover and Paris, TN that does such an excellent job.
