"A friend of mine referred me to Doctor Atkins, and once I met her for my 1st annual exam, she was very thorough with her questions & concerns for me as far as tests, labs, etc. My last name at that time was not Williams, it was Keyes. Granted, I never, ever had a bad visit at all the few years I did come there to see her! So imagine how shocked I was at how the end result turned out! I have always had a problem with my Left knee since the early 90’s; I wasn’t under her care at that time, but when I was, she sent me for an MRI, and it showed I had a pretty nice size Cyst on the Bone of my knee. This thing has given me such pain for over 10+ years at that time, and it was affecting my overall health, quality of life, jobs, and finances. It was also inoperable since the Cyst was on the Bone; which meant my quality of life was was truly affected! I applied for Disability through the Social Security Office, so they sent notice to Dr. Atkins for my medical records….she or her office staff never responded, or complied to that request, so my claim was denied due to lack of response for requested information & medical records from Dr. Cindy E. Atkins! Again never had one bad visit from this lady, was truly a sweet lady guys; so imagine how I felt since we NEVER bumped heads at any of my visits with her; she genuinely was a sweet person! Just not sure why she dropped the ball with not sending my medical records over! I have more than enough medical records for my knee alone that may have gotten me approved for my disability since I can’t have knee surgery on it due to the Cyst on the bone. I’ve worked since I was 15yrs old, I’m 56-1/2 now! Not sure what I did to deserve that from her, but anyway, I never went back!"

"Do yourself a favor and get a different doctor. She clearly has zero compassion and is blatantly rude. I had a ruptured disk in my back and went to see her because of being in extremely bad pain. She blowed me off acted as if I was lying or was there just to get pain pills she prescribed me muscle relaxers told me to go home and scheduled an MRI for nearly two months later and said I would have to do physical therapy to get it scheduled. Found out later had I done physical therapy before getting the MRI and knowing the extent of my injury I would have severely hurt myself worse. Went home continued trying to walk and work in terrible pain to the point had to be taken to the emergency room by ambulance for pain to have an emergency MRI done with contrast to discover my L5-S1 was ruptured and pressing on my nerves. Was discharged and told to follow up with a surgeon in the meantime pain was getting worse to which she seemed to not wanna prescribe anything for it or manage the pain till surgery could be performed which was another 3 weeks out. It ended up getting to the point I had to call and beg the surgeon to admit me to the hospital for pain management because she wouldn’t do anything to help essentially made me suffer in excruciating pain. Please do yourself and loved ones a favor find a better doctor one that actually cares so they’re not treated like a bad person for wanting help in a time when you are severely injured or in pain."

"I absolutely love Dr. Atkins! I refer everyone who is looking. All of these people leaving bad reviews obviously want someone to baby them, and treat them like children. Cindy is straight forward and will talk to you like an older sibling. She is incredibly smart."

"I've been going to Dr. Atkins for years and have always had a great experience. She is very thorough, takes time to listen to me and answer my questions, and is very down to earth which makes me feel comfortable talking with her. I never feel like she's rushing to get to the next patient and she makes sure I get the most out of my visit. She also seems very no-nonsense. Like another reviewer said, she's very concise. I'm bewildered by the negative reviews because I've always thought I'm lucky to have found such a wonderful physician. She's amazing. I would highly recommend her if you're looking for a primary care physician in Lexington."

"Dr. Cindy Atkins is rude, non caring and verbally abusive. I have been under her care for a little over a year after my long time doctor moved out of state. At first I excused her demeanor seeing how we were both new to each other and maybe I had to get to know her. Well I have and nothing has change and seeing the other review I know now that this is just how she is. She is a poor healthcare professional. Your doctor is supposed to be the closest to you other than a spouse or parent. I spoke to her about my smoking and my desire to stop and she told me to just quit. All my worries and concerns she just made into bigger issues because she dismissed them as if I wasn't even a human being. The straw that broke the camels back was when I voiced my concern about my weight. She diagnosed me with high blood pressure and I take 2 pills a day for it. I have gained over 30lbs while under her care and she hasn't even bothered to wonder why. I voiced my concern and told her that it surely can't be good with my bp and you know what she told me. There is no magic pill in the most harsh tone possible. You burn more calories than you consume is how you lose weight. I looked at her silently and got up and left. Something must have clicked in her head that I've had it and she tried to clean it up nicely but at that point I was done. There were several other times when I felt disgusted, embarrassed and ashamed because of her but I won't get in to it. Don't waste your time with her or this practice."
