"We were stationed at nearby Fort Campbell, and I worked at Whitson Lumber Company in the 1970s, for several months as a teenager. I worked on a sawmill line where the cut boards would roll past a guy who marked the differant grades going by on a converyor belt, and we would slide them into different piles for pickup. I recall the job being hard work, and I liked most of my coworkers. Several cold winter days stand out in my memory as we made fires from scrap wood in nearby barrels to keep warm. The job was outside labor type work under a metal roof. The pay then was almost two dollars an hour."
