"My sister and I were on a mini-marathon of Christmas shopping this Friday afternoon. She was looking for a set of fireplace accessories for my niece. Our first stop was the Home Depot near where I live. They had nothing in-store—"online only," the guy said. We were on the way to H-E-B in Plano, so I asked Google, "Where can I buy fireplace accessories nearby." She directed me to this Ace Hardware. Bingo! Entering the store, there were three people at the ready to help. Friendly, too. We had our choice of three. My sister chose the mid-price one. Solved."

"The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. They are great at helping to problem solve and easy to find. I always go there rather than Lowe’s and Home Depot when I can because the staff make it so easy to get in and out with what I came for."

"I just left ace and normally they greet you and ask if you need any assistance but the girl in the front didn't say anything. I went in at the same time with another gentleman and he was greeted immediately and asked if he needed help and I was ignored and I'm walking around looking for an item while other employees walked past me. I find the items I need and the gentleman Mr. Don asked me if I needed help and he did assist me. I thanked him for his help and told him he was the first one to acknowledge me. Even when I checked out the girl at the front said nothing. I won't be going back and will just go the extra mile to home depot where they do take care of their customers."

"Normally, the customer service at this store is very good, so I enjoy shopping there, but I am very disappointed in my most recent encounter. Yesterday I stopped in to purchase some weed killer. I had a coupon for $10 off $50, so I picked up some tiki torch fuel also to help put me over the $50 to be able to use the coupon. When I was rung up at the register, the cashier told me that my total before tax only came to $49.50, that I need to spend 50 cents more to be able to use the coupon. Therefore, I grabbed a magnet for $3.99 to put me over the limit so I could use the coupon. When I got home, I realized that even though he scanned the coupon, it did not take the $10 off, so this morning I went back to the store to get a refund. The cashier looked at my receipt and told me that, unfortunately, since one of the items was on sale, I was not able to use the coupon. I explained what had happened and that I specifically purchased an additional item at the register because the cashier said that I just needed 50 cents more to be able to use it. He told me that he should have noticed that one of the items was on sale and that what he had told me was incorrect. The only resolution that he could give me was to apologize for the mistake and give me another coupon for $5 off $25 that expires in 5 days. This is extremely poor customer service, especially over $10 for a regular customer. I would never have purchased the magnet, and it would have changed what I had decided to purchase if this had been communicated correctly on the front end. I ended up spending about $30 more than I would have on items that I didn't necessarily need, but would use, in order to save a little bit of money. Only I ended up not saving anything, and was given a coupon to have to spend $25 more to save $5, that is not even good long enough for me to actually need it."
