"This is a brand new location, so they don't have it fully staffed yet. They're doing a wonderful job with what they have so far. The store is a very different layout from what I'm accustomed to. It just makes it more fun to figure out where things are and causes me to shop a little bit more. My primary stores were Cedar Park and Round Rock for years. I moved to Taylor about 4 years ago and is glad to have a location that's closer than those original old favorites."

"We have been to several Academy Sports in the Austin metro area, and we were interested if this new one in Hutto would be better than the others. However, we didn't want to go on their "grand opening weekend" since it wouldn't give a good idea of the store. In our experience, you can get a better feel for how good a store is if you wait about a week or two after it opens. It just turned out our visit was on the Saturday after "Black Friday" and said a lot about this location and if it will be successful. First off, it is in a decent enough location in Hutto, the outside looks nicer than others in the area, the staff seems friendly enough, the store is still clean and decently stocked, and has a better layout than some others we have visited. However, the store was not as busy as you would typically expect. In fact, the Lowe's store next door was noticeably busier. The other concern is the check-out setup. You have to wind your way through a long "impulse buy" setup. It is an odd choice and may prove detracting because it ends with you having to be sure you look at a screen that tells you what checkout counter is available for you. More than one person was confused by this during our visit. The only other detracting part of our visit was being asked about applying for an Academy Sports store credit card at least 3 times. While we understand the employees are being told to do this as part of their job, it is annoying to be repeatedly asked. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but it is rather unclear if this location will end up being successful or not."

"Hutto finally has a store with a lot of things that we couldn't find in Hutto before. This store has a huge selection. Camping equipment, sports equipment, clothing, boots, firearms & ammo, grills, etc. The store was clean and the staff was friendly. Very pleased with my visit!"
