"This place is shady. I had air conditioning issues, and I suspected that it was out of refrigerant and just needed to be recharged. John told me that I needed a new compressor that cost $1,200. When I asked him to file with my car warranty company he couldn't explain to them why I needed a new compressor and so the claim was denied. I didn't think much of it until I called my warranty company and they explained the situation, he couldn't give them a reason why. He said that it was their fault that they denied it. When I asked him to email me a simple explanation of why I needed a new compressor so that I could use it as evidence to validate my claim, he never did. When the warranty company said that they were going to send out an inspector to validate the need for a new compressor, he had nothing else to do with the warranty company. I have a feeling that I paid for something that I did not need. Honesty doesn't take much if anything to back up and he wanted nothing to do with proving why I needed a new compressor."

"These guys were great to work with. I spoke to John on the phone and explained the issue. He gave me a quote that was far more reasonable Than the dealer. They replaced my alternator, serpentine belt, and fixed a weird fuse that runs my cooling fan. I have worked with a few other shops in Austin in the last 30 years and these guys were the best. If you have an issue with a Volvo- call Austin Vol-Tech. They will do you right."

"I have two Volvos that have previously only been serviced by the dealership. After some insanely high quotes for work from the dealership I decided to look for a new mechanic. I found Austin Vol-Tech and had them check out the repairs. Their quotes were hundreds of dollars less than the dealership and the work happened much faster (2 days vs the week and a half the dealership said was the minimum amount of time needed). Since my initial visit I have had Austin Vol-Tech do multiple repairs and maintenance needs on the cars and have been beyond pleased with their service, value, and expertise. I can not see taking my cars back to the dealership when Austin Vol-Tech is an option"

"Thought this was a good place but they left the 3 back screws out of the plastic cover under the engine, I only realized when I heard it dragging. Now I have to look for these obscure VW screws. It makes me question how well the other work was done (spent over $1k on maintenence). They also told me that they wish they didn't work on Volkswagens anymore, so maybe that is part of the problem."
