"Where to begin…A mechanic who charges a $150 diagnostic fee after completing the work. Brought my car in after running the codes with my own OB-II scanner. The code was for a throttle body. I bought one online for $57. After dropping it off, I received a phone call later in the day saying they had been in contact with the dealership and it was a two year wait for a throttle body because they were on back order. They can find the part in town and get it done for around $600 dollars otherwise I would have to wait two years going through the dealership. After I told them the new throttle body was in the backseat where they told me to leave it that morning and was then told that the throttle body I provided would only last 8 months. How would you know that? What if I don’t drive it? In 8 months it will not work? Please enlighten me. Probably took them 10-15 minutes to install. I’ve never heard of a mechanic charging a diagnostic fee after they complete the work, especially if you already provided the diagnoses and part. If you want an honest mechanic go elsewhere. All the positive are from people that probably don’t know much about cars. Overall, spent over $230 for a 10-15 minute job when I provided the correct diagnosis and part. Was threatened by the owner when picking up the vehicle. Stay away and save some money."
