"Shady billing practices. I go in for cleanings four times a year, with insurance paying for two. Emily billed me full price for my second cleaning, but still billed the insurance. When I asked her about this she said, "It's so you will have a credit for next time." I told her I found this very confusing and would only like to be billed my actual co-pay if she is planning to bill the insurance. She said she would start doing this next year. On another visit, when I questioned the x-rays they were doing, as I thought I had recently had x-rays, Dr. Flores was very offended and said, "Why are you questioning this?" I told him I wanted to make sure it was something my insurance would pay for. Later when I needed a crown, they wanted to bill me full co-pay on the first visit. When I objected to paying for all the work before the work is done, Emily said, "When you own your own dental office, you can do whatever you want." When it's just Dr. Flores and his wife Emily working in the office, there's no one else looking at the billing but the patients. Maybe most of their patients don't actually look at how they were charged and then how their insurance was billed for the same thing. Also, they will push and push in a rude way about the fluoride every time, even if you go in for quarterly cleanings and don't feel you need it. At times they don't even have a dental assistant and Emily does the office work and assists, and Dr. Flores gripes at her right in front of the patient, making things very uncomfortable when it's clear she is not a dental assistant. Less than a year at this dental office for me."
