Bleu Dentistry

"I was looking for a new dentist and found Bleu Dentistry nearby and with good reviews. However, as a new patient I found that I did not have a good experience. Looking on website they have advertised a new patient special for $159 including X-rays,exam and cleaning. Be aware though that the special only applies to those without insurance. For a new patient appointment I was charged $360 before insurance for the exam and x-rays only. Then after my insurance covered 80% I was left to pay $156 out of pocket. My next issue is with the pricing structure. When setting up the appointment I believed that it would be for cleaning,xrays and exam. Guess my first warning sign should have been when I was told that usually the first appointment is just establishing a treatment plan and did not include a cleaning. Upon having a exam completed I was my teeth were not bad but due to some light build up on a permeant retainer that I required a higher level mid-tier cleaning. The cost of that $411 and insurance did not cover it as a regular cleaning. So my out of pocket cost was $303 for just a cleaning. Totaling $459 out of pocket for a cleaning and new patient exam after insurance. Seems like a money grab and poor business practice to me. Usually a cleaning is a cleaning at every other dentist unless it is a extreme case which clearly mine was not. Office staff was very accommodating and with me when I told them I had somewhere I had to be but other than that also very slow experience. Think some of this may come from the fact that this office does not seem to have a dental hygienist doing the cleaning like usual but the doctor doing the cleanings himself. It was also not communicated that this dentist was out of network and that is reason they only covered 80%. Was led to believe that it was just my insurance policy that did not fully cover it."

"Under the direction of the office manager, Emily, it took months to receive a replacement dental device. After I repeatedly asked for a refund I was told that a refund was not an option. After I threatened legal action, Emily offered a refund that was conditional on my execution of a “Refund Release”. This “Release” contained cut and pasted terms from multiple documents and an explicit restriction on the disclosure of my issue on social media. One has to wonder: Is requiring execution of this document for a mere refund a tactic to keep online reviews artificially positive and patients silent? Consider review sources that cannot be altered by the business or scrubbed such as Yelp, or linked by the business to their Facebook account."
