"We have been patients of Dr. Eberlein for 24 years. For the last year, we had the same issues with his office and Cigna. Some claims were processed in network, others out of network. (The practice makes more money from insurance on cleanings and exams if they are processed out of network because these services are always paid at 100%. It's the opposite for procedures, with the practice paid less out of network. Therefore, the patient pays hundreds more for procedures processed out of network.) I spent hours on the phone with Amanda trying to get reimbursed over $500 because we were billed as if we had no insurance (initially understandable because we were establishing COBRA at the time). And after she finally agreed to the amount in the documentation, it was like pulling teeth to get her to mail checks to myself and our daughter. I have now caught Amanda in multiple lies, telling me that their policy is to not mail checks, then telling me today that that is not their policy and that they mail checks all the time. She told our daughter today that I insisted her check be sent certified mail when it was the exact opposite of this in earlier conversations with Amanda. In fairness, their previous person in charge of some of this died, but that excuse goes only so far. This previous person had sent me a reimbursement check months ago to make a zero balance, but their record of this was apparently not complete and Amanda insisted I owed that amount of money until I went back through old records. Our family will not be returning to this practice, I'm sorry to say. All the dentists and other professionals always did a good job. I emailed Dr. Eberlein with an explanation of the main reason we are leaving - the practice being out of Cigna's network. Amanda said he saw my email, but now I don't trust that he did. I messaged Dr. Eberlein through LinkedIn, but have not heard back."
