"I have a 2001 Ford Ranger. I have a short time off before I go back out for over the road trucking. I took my truck in to get the clutch master cylinder replaced. I specifically said that the system needed to be bench bled to get all of the air bubbles out(every Ranger forum says that). They insisted that they could vacuum the air out, and my truck was returned with a soft clutch pedal. I ended up having to do the work myself, and sure enough, when I bench bled the system, 12 air bubbles came out of the reservoir, even after vacuuming the master cylinder twice. After I reinstalled the master cylinder, I bled the system from the bleeder screw on the transmission casing from the slave cylinder, and dirty fluid came out, so I am not sure if they bled the entire system. Anyhow, Now my clutch engages at the top 20% of the clutch pedal instead of the bottom 20% of the clutch pedal. My mechanic skills win. I do give them props for coming to my house when their work left my truck unable to shift gears, but unfortunately I ended up with the same issue the second time they tried to vacuum the system. They also said that the slave cylinder was leaking, but I didn't see any moisture. It might have a very slow leak, but nothing major. I'll keep my eye out for any leaks if I might be wrong(but so far there are no drips). Hopefully they will take the extra time to do the job right the next time a Ranger goes to their shop."
