"Innovative Korean-inspired Japanese cuisine created by a former professional snowboarder turned a Michelin Star Chef. This Vegas-style restaurant brings downtown-quality dining experience to the north suburbs of Dallas (with a downtown price tag, unfortunately). There are other high-quality Japanese restaurants in the area with more friendly prices, but at Akira Back you are also paying for the atmosphere and presentation. The restaurant is smaller than you may expect - it would serve a great spot for an intimate dinner with a date to impress. The service can be hit-or-miss depending on the (overstaffed) waiting staff - some seem to be inadequately trained or perhaps would find themselves a better fit in a different restaurant or industry. I wasn't particularly impressed with the cocktails, but the 'AB Tuna Pizza' did the trick to start the meal off with excitement. If you are ordering 'Nazo 9' and/or 'Flambé,' be sure to have your phones ready for Instagram-worthy photos/videos."

"Chef’s greatest hits 7 course tasting menu was excellent! The sushi was the freshest sushi I’ve ever had and the plating was very beautiful. Atmosphere and wait staff were both top notch."

"Akira Back Dallas is easily the best Japanese / Sushi restaurant I've ever been to. We ordered the 8-course tasting menu, and it was one of most memorable dining experiences from any restaurant, in part because we didn't know what to expect without a written menu to read ahead from. The arc of flavors, textures, and temperature was really neat too, sort of going from quiet to loud. Also, we didn't get to what we would think of as sushi until a later course. So when the sushi came, we were like, "oh yeah, sushi, totally forgot, but awesome!". All of the courses were amazing, well-seasoned, with perfect temperature (cold, room temp, or ripping hot from heated pottery). I really can't think of a single critique. The menu is Korean influenced, which makes the all the flavors a little more vibrant to me. Highly recommended. I think Luke was our server's name, and he was incredible and knew the menu and the cuisine like a real expert. To some of other reviewers regarding the volume of noise, we got there early at 5:30 pm and were the first diners. I do agree, as the night went on, it did get quite loud. The ceiling of the restaurant is a big arc that could have better acoustic dampeners."

"I read an article about this place and then took 6 friends, we got a private room and delightfully we gave our waitstaff a price range and they picked a many course experience which blew us away. We even had a few folks who don't love fish and they were accommodated and they loved it was well! This is my new go to to impress out of town guests."

"My husband took me to Akita Back for the first time after our wedding and we had a wonderful time. We ordered the 8-course set and everything was amazingly delicious. We liked them all and couldn’t even rank which dish we liked the most. Food presentations were very impressive and creative. The servers were very attentive and helpful in providing drink recommendations. Great service, excellent foods and delicious drinks! We enjoyed our time there and plan to visit again."
