"The workers gave my bag and money to someone else and then blamed me for their mistake. I was told I could drive over to the goodwill the other customer dropped everything off at. The manager gave me $5 as compensation for my tote bag and the other customers pay instead. But I was blamed the entire time because my last name was someone’s first name and they did not check the other persons ID. When I dropped off my stuff I was told 5 hours, I called to confirm as it had been a little over 5 hours and was told they just tell everyone 5 hours and they don’t give estimates. I also overheard the staff saying they frequently make this mistake of mixing up people’s bags. I wouldn’t have been so discouraged but this was the first store I was going to today and had lost out on money I could have made at other resale shops. The staff needs more training if they are frequently mixing up people’s bags and the manager was just not taking responsibility for his staff. I’ve gone to the Plato’s in Austin so many times and never had issues in years until this Plato’s closet."

"Staff was "fake friendly". I took in designer clothing, which included extremely gently used coats, jackets, leather gauchos,a pair of boots (that I've only worn once) and a never-worn Karl Lagerfeld blazer with the tags still on it that I bought in late 2023. I waited for over an hour for them to look at my items. The staff told me I had "beautiful" clothing but said they wouldn't buy them because they smelled of cigarette smoke, but if I got them cleaned they would take them. What's strange is, with the exception of the boots and new blazer, everything else had been taken to the cleaners then vacuum-sealed for over a year! I said nothing as I folded my belongings and left the store. After reading reviews online, I see there are many people who say Platos doesn't generally take clothing from people of color. I don't know if that's true or not, I just know about my experience. I will NEVER return."

"I went in to sell a large pile of clothes and was told it was going to take 3 hours. The service was okay not the most friendly or inviting staff. It ended up taking them almost 5 hours to look through my stuff. Just to tell me they wanted two items for 3.00 dollars. I imagined they wouldn't want all my clothes but a large majority of the stuff I brought in was brands that were on the website. I am unsure how they determine what they want but in my opinion they should either update the list of things they want or re-evaluate they way they buy. Not worth coming to this location. -STAY AWAYYY!!!"

"I went at 4:00 and no one was in the store except two employees at the front desk. I was going to sell shoes. They wanted me to sign an agreement that if I didn't show up by the time the store closes, they would issue a store credit for what items they wanted and would give away the other items. I asked if that meant I had to come back later to receive payment if they wanted some items. Yes, I would have to make another trip back that night Seriously? Mind you they had no customers. Uh...no. We're done here. Complete waste of time."
